Kabul (BNA) In fact, common threats have caused the leaders of the national unity government to strive for further tightening relations with Central Asian countries than ever.
Calling relations with Central Asian countries in the benefit of Afghanistan, the lower house of the parliament is stressing on cooperation of these countries with Afghanistan in fighting terrorism.  A member of the house’s internal security commission, Mirdad Nejrabi said that however, regional security was important to the region, particularly to the Central Asian countries such as, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan and Russia, thus, these states should cooperate with Afghanistan in war on terror. “Peace will not restore in Afghanistan unless the regional countries honestly cooperate with Afghanistan,” he further said, adding surely, prevailing peace and security in Afghanistan will positively affect regional and the world countries. Iqbal Safi, head of the Wolesi Jirga’s defensive commission said, “Afghanistan is among those countries where has always been victimized by terrorism and has given the most casualties so far, therefore, the Central Asian countries should practically step up alongside Afghanistan in this regard.”
Earlier, officials of Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan in meeting with their Afghan counterparts reported on their preparations for cooperating with Afghanistan in war on terror. Expressing optimism on regional countries’ role in ensuring peace and stability as well as fighting terrorism in Afghanistan, a number of political experts believe that the Central Asian countries are concerned on influence of extremist factions to their borders. Akram Andishmand, a political expert on Afghanistan and regional affairs said, “Insecurities in north, have caused the Central Asian countries to tighten relations with Afghanistan.” To prevent further increasing terrorist groups’ activities, he added the regional superpowers including Russia and Turkmenistan should cooperate with Afghanistan.
Haidar Hemat, an expert and university lecturer said that the government of Afghanistan should make effort to maintain relations with regional and Central Asian countries so to ensure peace and security in the country.
In the meantime, lauding the Afghan National Security Forces (ANSF) efforts in ensuring security in northern provinces, a number of citizens are stressing that the government should not let the terrorists influence in north and should come up with a serious strategy to foil the terrorists’ attacks and don’t let them reach their malicious designs.  Omran, a Kabul resident said Afghanistan was among those countries where has experienced wars for more than three decades, thus, to get rid of such a situation, the regional and Central Asian countries should cooperate with it. Walid, another resident believes that the Central Asian countries are concerned on Daesh faction activities in the country, which is why they want to continue cooperation with Afghanistan. This is while that many countries have declared their support from Afghanistan, but unfortunately, still peace and security are not ensured in the country.
