Contract of 52MW Gas Power Project Signed

Kabul (BNA) The contract on a gas power project in Mazar-e-Sharif was signed between deputy minister of water and energy and head of Ghazanfar Group in the presence of President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and High Economic Council’s members at the presidential palace yesterday, the president press office said in a statement.
According to the statement, during a news conference, finance ministry’s private and public partnership head, deputy minister of water and energy, deputy policy of mines and petroleum ministry, head of Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat said Ghazanfar Group Co with financial assistance of an international entity (IFC) would invest $75mln in the project.
Averagely, 40000 families and 120 small and medium factories would benefit the power of the project, the statement added.
Finance ministry’s private and public partnership head, Abdul Momin Mansour said the required gas of the project would be ensured through Sheberghan and its produced power would be bought by Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat, the statement continued.
The project would be started in Dehdadi district, Balkh province and would take two years.
