NPC Approves 9 Contracts Worth 918mln Afghanis

Kabul (BNA) Chaired by President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, the National Procurement Commission (NPC) held session on Monday, the presidential palace said in a statement.
At the outset, head of National Procurement Authority (NPA) Ilham Omar Hotaki presented a report on participation of a delegation consisted of NPA and the committee to address volunteers’ protests in a five-day workshop held in Sri Lanka by the U.S. Department of Trade, World Trade Center and European Development Bank, according to the statement.
Afterward, the NPC approved nine new contracts worth 918 million Afghanis, the statement added.
The contracts are as follow:
- The contract of Andkhoy water canal related to the ministry of agriculture, irrigation and livestock,
- The contract of 144 items of oils and filters needed for Kabul Municipality,
- Procurement contract of 6 items of grains needed for directorate of security and protection of government VIPs related to affairs administration,
- Procurement contract of developing fiber optic network (DWDM),
- Capacity building contract for GSM system sections related to Afghan Telecom Telecommunications Company,
- Procurement contract of additional equipment to Afghan Telecom Company,
- Procurement contract of GSM system capacity building related to Salaam Telecommunications Company,
- Contract of 38 items of raw-materials for Sokouk Printing Press related to finance ministry,
- Contract to rent a building for New Kabul Bank main branch related to finance ministry,
It is merit to mention that the projects of ministry for telecommunications and information technology, conditional to clearing taxes of winner companies approved by the commission.  Besides, the commission approved the approval demand of contract modification (Time Extension and Decrease in Price) of consultative services on establishing NPA institute.
The meeting was attended by Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, second vice president Sarwar Danesh, acting ministers of economy, finance and justice, NPA in-charges, and some other government and international officials.
