NPC Approves 17 Projects worth More Than Six Billion Afghanis

Kabul (BNA) The National Procurement Commission (NPC) held its 109th session with President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on the chair here on Sunday evening, BNA reported.
The session discussed 33 procurement related bids and approved 17 contracts worth more than six billion Afghanis. The contracts included procurement of 59 medical items required for Afghan pilgrims related to Ministry of Hajj and Religious Affairs, chartering Boeing 747-422 related to Ariana Afghan Airlines, asphalting of Pul-e-Kamah to Brakashkot of Kunar district of Nangarhar province and asphalting the second phase of Dushi-Bamyan road related to Ministry of Transport, amendments to the contract for construction of surrounding walls of 350 bed hospital in Kandahar related to Ministry of Public Health and restoration of Herat Grand Mosque related to Ministry of Urban Development and Land.
Meanwhile, the session also approved contract for procurement of internet to Ministry of Urban Development and Land, contract for procurement of 37 food items related to Kabul University’s dormitory, construction of two dormitories in Kandahar and Farah provinces related to Operational Unit of Presidential Office, procurement of 23 items of clothes for Senior Official’s Security Directorate and contract for procurement of internet to 17 state-accountant offices of Ministry of Finance. The session also discussed and approved the contract for connecting 101 schools through fiber optic related to Ministry of Telecommunications, contract for procurement of electricity apparatus for Omid vocational and training center related to Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs, contract for installation of special unity related to Ministry of Interior, contract for procurement of two food items (Meat) for provincial military zones and police headquarters and procurement of chicken for Ministry of National Defense.
While approving the contracts, President Ghani said no shortages acceptable during the Hajj program, instructing Ministries of Economy, Finance and National Procurement Authority to jointly work on specific timesheet of the Hajj program. Meanwhile, the President also emphasized on balanced distribution of internet to 101 schools across the country. Hinting to projects of the Ministry of Transport, the President said delay in implementation of the projects were not acceptable and those neglecting should be introduced to justice and judicial organs. The President also emphasized on monitoring of the projects. The meeting was also attended by national and international observers, including representatives of Parliament, Integrity Watch of Afghanistan, SIGAR and Resolute Support Mission.
