Gov. to Prioritize Further Investment on Agriculture Sector in Coming Years, President Ghani

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in a meeting with leading body of agriculture sector, experts and lecturers of the respective sector said attention to development of agriculture was in top priorities of Afghanistan government in coming years. In the meeting held Saturday evening at Presidential Palace, first Hashmatulah Ghafoori, deputy minister for irrigation and natural resources of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock Ministry delivered report of National Conference on Development of Agriculture to the country’s President. In the report, key challenges facing the agricultural sector in the field of producing, processing and marketing as well as current opportunities in agriculture sector were briefed. After hearing visions and suggestions of participants in the meeting, President Ghani asserted that attention to development of agriculture was in top priorities of Afghanistan government in coming years. The country’s President added that marketing of agricultural products depended on their quality; therefore, investors of the respective sector should pay attention to it.
“In coming two years, most of investment will be done on development of agriculture,” President Ghani said, adding that construction of irrigation dams and small hydro dams would be another part of the programs of the government.
