Jalalabad (BNA) At least 550 volunteers have passed the military academy enrollment exam yesterday in Nangarhar, BNA reported.
Col. Mohammad Harron Yosufi spokesman of Sillab 201 national army corps told BNA, the volunteers are graduated from the universities, semi higher education institutions and baccalaureates of the Nangarhar, Kunar, Nooristan and Laghman provinces.
From among the volunteers 50 people, who achieves the high score will be accepted and hired in national army unites, and they will be trained theoretical and practical for 18 months.

Kabul (BNA) Two people lost their lives and another has been wounded in two traffic events in Samangan province yesterday.
Colonel Abdul Razaq head of Traffic event of Samangan security command told BNA, first event occurred in collision of a corolla car, caused martyring of one and injuring of another.
Likewise, the second event occurred in Bandar region, Aibak city, in which a child was martyred and another has been injured.
The source called the reason behind the incident are more speech and carelessness of drivers

Sar-e-Pul (BNA) Police of Sar-e-Pul province arrested five people accused smuggling narcotic drug yesterday.
Abdul Qayoom Baqizou police chief of Sar-e-Pul told BNA, the people were arrested by police in Kohistanat district while they wanted to smuggle 420kg of opium by a corolla car to Sar-e-Pul province.
According to the source, two arrested are residents of Sar-e-Pul and three others are residents of Chamtal District, Balkh province.
Earlier 480kg of narcotic drug were destroyed by related officials in that province.

Jalalabad (BNA) Two people lost their lives in heavy rains and thunder in Nangarhar province yesterday noon.
According to report, the event occurred in parts of Nangarhar province especially in Khogyani, Kot, Pecheragam and Shirzad districts.
Local source of Nangarhar province told BNA, eight people have been injured in the incident.

Maimana (BNA) A kid was lost his life and another has been injured in a mortar mine blast in Faryab province yesterday.
According to Shaheen 209 army corps press office to BNA, the mortar mine was launched by Taliban in a clash by security forces in Garzewan district and hit on a residential house, in which a child was martyred and another has been wounded.
According to another report, a Taliban insurgent was killed in their own mine blast in Chartoot village, Pashtoon Kot district and another was wounded.

Kabul (BNA) US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has officially announced the appointment of Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad as Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation.
Pompeo said in a memo to staff on Friday that Khalilzad will lead US efforts to support, facilitate, and participate in a peace process between government and the Taliban.
“there is no one better suited for this duty than an expert diplomat like ambassador Khalilzad, who was born and raised in Afghanistan, and has previously served as the U.S. ambassador to Afghanistan, Iraq, and the United Nations,” Pompeo said in a memo.
In the memo Pompeo said he was confident in Khalilzad’s ability to execute the mission.
“I am confident in Ambassador Khalilzad’s ability to execute this mission, and we are grateful for his willingness to step back into public service.  As we welcome him back to the Department, let us rededicate ourselves to achieving a durable peace in Afghanistan that will ensure security for the American people.  This goal is realistic. We have a team in place to accomplish it.  Let’s get the job done,” said Pompeo in the memo.
Khalilzad was the United States ambassador to the United Nations under President George W. Bush and has been involved with U.S policy makers at the White House, State Department and Pentagon since the mid-1980s.  He has also served as U.S ambassador to Afghanistan and U.S ambassador to Iraq.
Reuters reported recently that the diplomat is well suited to the difficult task of persuading the insurgents to talk, according to a former senior U.S. official, who asked not to be further identified.
In addition to his experience advising or working for four U.S. administrations and his knowledge of Afghanistan’s main languages, culture and politics, he is close to President Ashraf Ghani, the former official said.

Kabul (BNA) Asset Registration and Verification Office (ARVO) is assigned to register assets of all government officials. 
Over the course of six months, since its beginning the office has collected more than 14,000 asset registration forms of high ranking government officials.
ARVO Director Nahid Esar appeared in a joint press conference with Di8rector of Anti-Corruption Secretariat Yama Turabi at the Government Media and Information Center here yesterday, saying that:  “The process of collecting asset registration forms for all high-ranking officials is completed.”
The aim behind assets registration of high-ranking officials is to prevent corruption, to prevent embezzlement of public funds, and to establish monitoring mechanism for public and the media.
According to the law, the asset registration process of high ranking officials takes place in three stages:  registration, publication and verification.
“ARVO expresses its satisfaction for the government leadership support, and hoped that all politicians support this process,” Esar added.
Meanwhile, Anti-corruption secretariat, who is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the National Anti-Corruption Strategy, says that they report about their performances every six months.
“The registration of assets of government officials and employees is part of the government’s commitment to the people and international community” said Yama Torabi, Director of Anti-Corruption Secretariat.
Asset Registration and Verification Office urges the People, Civil Society Institutions.  Ulema Council, and other institutions to visit ARVO website, and read the published assets of government officials, and share their relevant information through.

CE Pledges Holding Transparent Elections

Kabul (BNA) In a meeting with the Turkish ambassador, Oguzhan Ertugrul, the National Unity Government (NUG) Chief Executive said that the government was committed to hold a transparent election in the country, BNA reported. During the meeting, both sides discussed mutual relations between Afghanistan and Turkey, holding a transparent and valid election in Afghanistan and the Turkish cooperation for Afghanistan. The country chief executive said that the government was committed to hold a transparent and valid election and that the launch of biometric procedure on the voters during the Election Day by the commission would make the people sure about the process.

Kabul (BNA) The Independent Election Commission (IEC) said on Saturday that it is working on the biometric system and has been dealing with a German company, the remarks came a day after that Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah said an agreement had been reached on the use of a biometric system in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
“The issue which is being worked on is the use of a biometric system on October 20 (Election Day). Our assessments have been completed by up to 70 percent, but there are still questions in this regard. We hope that we can find answers for them,” said Hafizullah Hashemi, the IEC spokesman. He said they will announce a final decision after consultations with political parties. Hashemi said the IEC had agreed with a German company to provide the biometric system for elections. He said the company is a well-established company with many years of experience in supplying biometric systems around the world. He said the biometric units would be installed at more than 5,000 polling centers across the country on Election Day. Parliamentary elections have been scheduled for October 20.

Kabul (BNA) Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah in a program held by women empowerment program ‘Promote’ for capacity building of women teachers said women were half part of society and if women were empowered, society would be empowered too. Expressing happiness over starting the program, the country’s chief executive added education was principal and significant base of a society. “Enhancement of women’s capacity will cause that they offer knowledgeable students to our society and well-educated individuals can create a sound society,” Dr. Abdullah said.  Pointing to part of women in political, economic and social sections, the country’s chief executive stressed that by starting the program nearly 100,000 women teachers would receive necessary teacher training studies that could result in enhancement of teaching capacity of women teachers. Chief Executive by praising USAID for launching the program for Afghan women said national unity government was committed to cooperation with USAID to make it success. In the program, acting minister of education, Merwais Balkhi said that his ministry was facing with lack of professional and experienced teachers and one of goals of the ministry was to empower teachers. He added that currently nearly 3.7 million children mostly girls were deprived of education across the country, saying that empowerment of women teachers and absorption of new teachers would pave the way for more children to go to school.
