Villages Clear From Insurgents in Balkh

Mazar-e-Sharif (BNA) Several villages of Balkh province were cleared from armed insurgents.
Mohammad Hanif Rezayee Shaheen 209 army corps spokesman told BNA, clearing operation with support of air forces were launched by commando forces in Charboldak district, in which several regions of the mentioned district have been cleared from insurgents.
He added, heavy casualties inflected to insurgents and the operation on going in the district.

Maimana (BNA) Taliban leader with his six colleagues were killed in Garzewan district, Faryab province.
Shaheen 209 armed corps spokesman told BNA, Abu Talha Taliban leader with his six colleagues were killed in commando forces operation with air forces support in outskirt of Garzewan district.
The source said, five Taliban were seriously injured and numerous of weapons, two vehicles and two motorbikes of the insurgents were destroyed.

Displaced Families Received Foodstuffs

Taliqan (BNA) More than 400 internally displaced families have received foodstuffs in Takhar province.
Takhar immigration director told BNA local correspondent, at a cost of 5200,000 Afghani foodstuffs included ghee, pulls, salt were disseminated to 457 displaced families in Taliqan city that are under the tents.
The families were displaced from Khwja Bahawuddin, Darqad, Khwajaghar, Yangiqala, Dashtqala districts of Kunduz to Taliqan city.

MoU for 26 Projects Costing $10 million Signed

Kabul (BNA) A memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for 26 projects with the cost of $10 million has been signed by the related ministries and institutions with the Indian Embassy at the presence of Dr. Abdullah Abullah, the Chief Executive of the National Unity Government (NUG), BNA reported. The projects are expected to be launched by the country’s nine ministries and two Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) in the fields of higher education, health, rural development, road building, water and power, environment, job facilitation, women empowerment and agriculture in the country’s 11 provinces. Dr. Abdullah spoke at the special ceremony in which the MoU was signed as saying, the projects have been designed in the past and implemented based on the priorities of the country’s remote areas. The launch of the small uplift projects would make the people of the remote areas hopeful for their live and help peace restore in the country. The CE thanked India for its cooperation in various fields said only the people of Afghanistan were the owners of the projects and that the related ministries and entities have to precisely implement the projects.
He also pointed to the recent peace efforts of the U.S. and hoped the efforts could give positive results and the government armed oppositions were convinced to join a negotiating table instead killing innocent people. Meanwhile, Minister of Economy, Mustafa Mastoor said implementation of the small uplift projects had positive impact and the people were satisfied with the process. “327 projects worth $65million from the totally Indian committed 577 projects, costing $177 million have been completed and work was going on the remaining”. Meanwhile, the Indian Ambassador to Kabul, Viney Kumar said the projects have been considered based on the demand of the government and people of Afghanistan and the two countries interests, mainly aimed at ensuring peace, employment and supplying services to the people of the remote areas.

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met a number of Shinwar elders and influential figures at the Chahar Chinar Palace yesterday, BNA reported. At the outset, representing others, Haji Moawen, Mir Hamza Maiakhil and Mamour Seyal while appreciating the President’s achievements and decisive stance against powerful figures, assured of their full support. The participants also briefed the President on mopping-up operations launched by the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces in cooperation and coordination with Shinwar tribe in different districts, adding they would continue cooperation with the government and Afghan security forces. Welcoming Shinwar elders and influential figures, the President said I was really proud of your support, efforts and bravery, adding you have proven that insurgents cannot stand against the people.
The President said I have instructed the finance ministry to allocate an amount of budget for six affected districts of Nangarhar province. He added we would prioritize construction of affected schools, health clinics and masjids in Shinwar district. He also instructed the national security directorate that in coordination with the ministries of defense and interior arrange and apply a joint plan on cleared areas’ security.

Avalanches Took the Lives of 2 Persons

Kabul (BNA) Two persons have died following avalanches in northern Badakhshan province.
Sayed Abdullah Hamayoun head of counter-disasters in Badakhshan told BNA correspondent, a person lost his life due to avalanches in Ashkasham district another lost his life in Yawan district of the province.
Three others were wounded following the avalanches as well, Hamayoun added.

Taliban Militants Killed in Laghman Operation

Mehtarlam (BNA) Four Taliban militants were killed and two others have been hurt in clearing operation of security forces in Laghman province last night.
The militants were targeted while terrorist activities in Alishing district.
ANA commander in east of the country told BNA, four Taliban were killed and two others have been injured in the operation.

Kabul (BNA)  The NDS office of Samangan and Takhar province have arrested five insurgents.
National security directorate with releasing a statement said, the officials of the office arrested five insurgents in Samangan and Takhar provinces.
Three of the detainees were sent by military commander of Taliban to Khoram Sarbagh district, Samangan province for terrorist activities.
Likewise, Mohammad Sarwar and Shokrullah the two other commanders were assigned for abduction of military officials and civilians in Taliqan city and have been detained with numerous of heavy and light weapons.

Fire Took The Lives of 5 Members of a Family

Herat (BNA) Five members of a family lost their lives due to fire in their house in Herat province.
The event occurred last night in 2nd precinct of Herat city.
Jelani Farhad spokesman for Herat governor told BNA, the reason behind the incident is not clear so far, but police investigations have begun in this regard.
The deceased consists of women, husband, three children, two girls and a boy.

United States Condemns Kabul Attack

Kabul (BNA)  “The United States strongly condemns the attack on a residential compound in PD9 last night that killed and injured innocent Afghan and international civilians, including children.  In the fact of these cowardly acts, the United States stands with the people of Afghanistan who seek a peaceful future and an end to conflict and violence.  We extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, and colleagues of the victims, and we will continue to support our Afghan partners to achieve an end to the conflict in Afghanistan.”
