Kabul (BNA) President Hamid Karzai inaugurated Qasaba’s Housing project in Khwajah Rawash of Kabul city, funded by the United Arabic Emirates (UAE) funded by Abdu Dhabi Development Fund.
The inauguration ceremony was organized by the Ministry of Urban Development MoUD) yesterday in Qasabaa where president Karzai thanking the  UAE assistant said, “I am very pleased that Allah the Almighty has enabled us to take another step for welfare and betterment of the lives of our people, a step taken by the generous assistance, support and attention of a brotherly country-the United Arab Emirates”.
President Karzai said:  “When I had a visit to the UAE, his Highness President Sheikh Khalifa pledged to fund this project which starts practically today.”
The president added, “This project will help those, who cannot buy high-priced houses, to become owners of house so it is very important for those needy people to enjoy having house”.
President Karzai hoped that the UAE would further increase its assistance with Afghanistan in housing sector.  The president assured “I will personally monitor the implementation process of this major development project so that it could be completed with highest quality and on time.”  Briefing on the project, Mohammad Saif Al Suwaidi, Acting Director General of Abdu Dhabi Fund for Development, said. “We are proud that this project reflects close ties that bind the United Arab Emirates and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.”
He added, “The leadership of the UAE supports the efforts of your Excellency to achieve comprehensive development in all fields.”  Mohammad Saif Al Suwaidi stressed, “The housing project in Qasaba, Kabul is an example for   one of the vital development projects administered by the Abdu Dhabi Fund for Development in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to contribute in support of efforts to promote the housing sector and to provide the elements of a decent life for Afghan society.”
Hassan Abdullahi, Minister of Urban Development also spoke about the project, stating that for safe, quality and low-cost housing, MoUD desiged a housing policy in the past two years that fortunately led to a decline in prices of houses in the market and created a competitive environment for housing business in the private sector of Afghanistan.  Minister of Urban Development said, this housing project would build 111 five-story buildings consisting of totally 3333 apartments through generous assistance of $179 million by the United Arab Emirates.  He added that Trojan General Constricting would construct these buildings on 268 acres of land, with all public facilities such as mosques, clinic, kindergarten, canalization system, water supply system, asphalted roads and park.  Hassan Abdullahi noted this project that provides employment opportunities for 3000 workers on a daily basis would be completed within three years.

17 Armed Taliban Killed And Arrested

Ghazni (BNA) 10 armed Taliban were arrested during an operation in Ghazni province.
The operation carried out by national army and police on several hideouts of Taliban, in which 7 Taliban were killed
Also in this operation two large weapon depots of Taliban were seized.
Faiz Mohmmad Tofan police official of Dehyak district said BNA, ten armed Taliban were arrested and seven others were killed.
It is being said that two Pakistani insurgents were among the deaths.
Police official of Dehyak district confirmed that two weapon depots of Taliban were discovered and seized.

Kabul (BNA) The Afghan and coalition security force wounded a Taliban leader and killed two other insurgents during an operation in Qush Tepah district, Jowzjan province, yesterday.
The leader has operational control over a group of fighters responsible for attacks against Afghan and coalition forces in multiple districts throughout Jowzjan. He also engages in illegal taxation against Afghan civilians, provides training on improvised explosive device operations to his subordinates, and facilitates the movement of money, weapons and insurgent fighters in the local area.
In other news throughout Afghanistan:
The Afghan National Army Special Forces, advised by coalition forces, detained eight insurgents and seized a large cache of homemade explosive during an operation in Panjwa’I district, Kandahar province yesterday.  The cache consisted of 757 liters (200 gallons) of homemade explosive and several IED making materials.  The detainees have been transferred to the Afghan Uniformed Police and all seized materials were destroyed on location.  
Another report said, the Afghan Local Police quick reaction force responding to an attack on two separate ALP checkpoints killed one insurgent and wounded another in Andar district, Ghazni province, yesterday. 
The Afghan force engaged several insurgents, shortly after being dispatched from the District Operations Coordination Center, who were attacking the Rustam and Golo ALP checkpoints, using 82mm mortar and DSHKA fire. No Afghan Local Police were injured during this engagement.

An Afghan quick reaction force killed two insurgents while responding to an attack on an ALP checkpoint in Gelan district, Ghazni province, yesterday. The QRF was dispatched after Afghan Local Police contacted the District Operation Coordination Center for assistance. Following the engagement the security force recovered two AK-47 rifles.

3 Rebels Killed

Kabul (BNA) The national army forces killed three rebels and wounded three others during a  cleansing operation.
According to defense ministry press office, the national army forces conducting a cleansing operation under the title of (Mouj Murghab) killed  three armed rebels and wounded three others.
Also the national army forces carried out other operation in the Panjwai and Zheri districts of Kandahar province, as a result of  which six armed insurgents were arrested and a BM1 weapons, 8 rocket bullets, 4 mines, a box of PK machine gun, and quantity of military equipment were seized.
According to another report, as a result of roadside mine, planted by insurgents in the Balamurghab district of Badghish province, a national army soldier was martyred and two were wounded  T. Suraya-Yarzada

4 ISAF Soldiers Killed

Kandahar (BNA) 4 ISAF soldiers were killed in an explosion of  mine in Kandahar province.
Jaweed Faisal spokesman governor of Kandahar said BNA, these soldiers were killed when their vehicle hit a roadside mine in the Ashgho area, Zheri district.
According to him, a number of ISAF troops were also wounded in the incident.
Spokesman of American forces said, the deaths soldiers all are American citizens.
Since the beginning of the Afghan current year, 63 ISAF soldiers have been killed in Afghanistan.  T. Suraya-Yarzada

Kabul (BNA) Some of the journalists who attended the Iranian sponsored training course described it very important.
In the five-day program initiated by Journalism Faculty of Iran official news agency (IRNA) and launched by Iranian embassy here, more than 60 journalists from BNA, RTA and state-run newspapers including the Kabul Times and Anis Daily attended it.
In her remarks Friba Ahsanzada described the course as significant in capacity building.
Hamida Sediqi of the daily Anis said the participants had learned a lot on journalism over the past two days.
In talks with BNA, Dr. Reza Amir Jahan Shahi the director of IRNA’s Journalism Faculty lauded the progress of media in Afghanistan over the past decade, saying Iran would continue to transfer its experience in the field of media to Afghanistan.
Hinting at cultural, religious and lingual communality, he said that Iran help Afghan journalists on how to prepare news, interview, photo and clips.

Kabul (BNA) A meeting was organized for creating of further coordination among the ministries of national defense, interior affairs, public works, rehabilitation and rural development of eastern zone in Parwan province.
At the meeting ministers of national defense, public works, rehabilitation and rural development and senior deputy minister for security affairs of interior ministry, deputy minister of public health and the governors of seven provinces of eastern zone had taken part.
While summing the existing challenges in the said provinces they proposed necessary approaches for overcoming the challenges.
General Besmellah Mohammadi Defense Minister said that this meeting is held for bringing of improvement in governance, security, specifying of difficulties and seeking ways for alleviating of problems.
He added that publishing of Taliban statement for increasing of their attacks during the current year is nothing but propaganda for disrupting public opinion and that the Afghan security forces like last year will foil the vicious plots of enemies.
General Abdul Rehman Rehman senior deputy minister for security affairs of interior ministry emphasized that the ministry will exert all possible effort for strengthening of police forces in the eastern zone.
Abdul Basir Salangi Governor of Parwan and other governors of eastern zone touched on problems in their respective provinces.
Meanwhile, Abdul Khaliq Farahi chairman of Local Organs while calling the meeting as constructive emphasized on solution of the prevailing problems in the provinces.
The Governors of Kunar, Nuristan, Nangarhar, Laghman, Parwan, Kapisa and Punjshir provinces participated at the meeting.

Kabul (BNA) The first seminar on herbal medicine of Afghanistan was organized by the Ministry of Information and Culture in Kabul.
The seminar was attended by Nematullah Shahrani presidential advisor in religious affairs, some members of national assembly, deputy ministers of information and culture, public health, higher education, doctors and traditional practitioners of Kabul.
At the start the message of President Karzai was read out by Dr. Faizullah Kakar presidential advisor that read in part:
“Traditional knowledge has its role in cultural heritage of every society and ultimately it is linked with the contemporary science and knowledge and the present knowledge in reality is an advanced form of traditional advanced knowledge.
The message praises the ministry of information and culture for initiating the seminar and the work of seminar has been considered as positive.
Dr. Raheen said at the seminar that treatment in Islamic culture has its lofty place and the Islam religion attached significant importance to the science and medicinal science.
The Muslim believes that Almighty Allah has created something for treatment of any pains and this depends of the people to find it out.
Touching on the works of scientists in this area after emergence of Islam said that all findings with respect to medicine is acceptable by Islam religion and the pre-Islamic medicine also had its impacts on the Islamic medicine for Islam accepts scientific thinking and seeks cooperation in this area.
He added that Afghanistan especially Kabul has been the center for production and export of herbal medicine to the civilized world.
Mohammad Osman Baburi deputy minister of higher education, Dr. Abdul Basir deputy minister of public health and Dr. Ahamd Shah Wali representative of WHO in Kabul read out the message of their respective organs which praised the initiative of information and culture ministry for organization this seminar.
The seminar will continue for two days.

Kabul (BNA) Minster of Information and Culture Dr. Sayed Makhdoom Raheen yesterday called on president to assign a delegation including the representative of Attorney General Office to investigate the allegations labeled   by Zalmai Zabuli against him in regard to the smuggling of Afghanistan’s artifacts.
Dr. Raheen also hoped, the investigation could prove as a lesson to others not to terrorize the personality of no one in the future.

Ten Armed Taliban Arrested

Kabul (BNA) Ten armed Taliban were arrested in Panjwai district of Kandahar province.
The people were arrested along with their weapons during an operation launched by security forces in Nakhani area.
Jawed Faisal spokesperson of Kandahar governor told BNA, the operation which lasted for 12 hours as a result of which ten armed Taliban arrested and one of them injured.
