Seven Killed In Karachi Firing, Violence

KARACHI (BNA) Seven persons were killed in different firing and violence incidents in the meg-metropolis city here, Geo News reported.
Police said that one person was gunned down at Chisti Nagar, while one tortured corpse of a young man, who was killed after kidnapping, was recovered from Khairabad in Orangi Town area here.
Motorcycle armed riders opened fire at a tea stall at Federal ‘B’ Area Industrial Area, which resulted in the death of two persons and three wounded. The three injured were sent to the hospital, where all of them succumbed to their injuries. Initial investigation revealed that it was a targeted killing.
Ahl-e-Sunnat Wa Al Jamaat leader Maulana Aurangzeb Faruqui said that all the five deceased were the activists of Jamaat. He demanded immediate arrest of the murderers.

6 Local Commanders of Armed Insurgents Killed

Kabul (BNA) Six local commanders of armed insurgents were killed in military operations in Afghanistan. 
These commanders were attributed to Taliban and Haqani network and were killed in military operations by Afghan and NATO forces in the vicinities of Kandahar, Ghazni, Urozgan, Logar and Khost provinces. 
BNA quoting from NATO press statement said, these six commanders targeted by Afghan and NATO forces while organizing terrorist attacks in their hideouts. 
NATO said that these commanders had committed leadership of several Taliban fighters and Haqani network. 
According to this statement, the Afghan and NATO forces seized three depots of arms and narcotic of the insurgents during the operations.

Sediq Afghan Man of The Year

Kabul (BNA) The international biography center, Cambridge in Britain has chosen mathematician philosopher Mohammad Sediq Afghan as the Man of Year 2012.
Keeping in mind the research and work in the field of mathematics, the Britain-based scientific center has also designed a special medal in recognition of the research work of Sediq Afghan and authorized the Afghan philosopher to confer the medal to scholars of the world, the Britain-based center and the World Federation Massachusetts of America has invited Sediq Afghan and his team to attend the international conference to be held in US from June 28 to July 3,2013 and from July 3 to July 6 2013.
The academy of Science, Afghanistan while congratulates the pride to the whole Afghan nation also wishes more success for the philosopher Sediq Afghan.

Kabul (BNA) The Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Zalmai Rasoul handed over the document of 215 coins of Koshanides era to minister for information and culture Dr. Sayed Makhdoom Raheen yesterday and Dr. Raheen submitted them to head of national Museum Omara Khan Masoudi for preservation.
The coins had been taken to London some 40 years ago and the Britain official’s returned them to Afghan ambassador to Britain Daudyar.
In his speech on the occasion, Dr. Raheen while expressed his gratitude to the foreign minister for his personal attention and Afghan diplomats, stated that it is a matter of pleasure that Afghan relics have been returned home.
Dr. Rasoul also expressed his happiness over the return of the artifacts.
Ambassador Daudyar in his address described the relics as cultural heritages of the country, saying they had been taken to London by British archeologist David Hague in 60s and had been used in teaching archeology of the region.

Kabul (BNA) Hamid Karzai the president of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan has strongly condemned the mine blast that claimed the lives of 10 children in Chparhar district of Nangarhar province yesterday.
In the tragic incident, according to the officials of Nangarhar governor, a mine planted by the enemies went off in Dualatzai area of Chaparhar killing some girls who were collecting firewood.
President Karzai while terming the blast as coward and unforgivable act, instructed Nangarhar governor Gul Agha Shirzai to probe the deadly blast.
Besides expressing condolence and sympathy with the families of the victims the president has also ordered administrative affairs Chief Sadiq Mudabir to transfer assistance to martyrs families.

Kabul (BNA) President Hamid Karzai is deeply saddened by the loss of many lives and the devastation caused by Typhoon Bopha in the southern Philippines.
Official’s reports indicate that the number of people killed after Typhoon Bopha struck the southern Philippines has risen to more than 1,000.
President Karzai, while deeply grieved by the death toll and the damage the typhoon has caused, extends his and Afghan people’s heartfelt condolences to the government and people of the Philippines, particularly the mourning families.

7 Armed Taliban Killed

Kabul (BNA) Seven armed Taliban insurgents were killed in clash by Afghan security forces in several provinces of the country. 
The Interior ministry press office said to BNA, the Afghan security forces carried out 9 cleaning up operations in the outskirts of Kabul, Kunduz, Maidan-Wardak, Logar, Khost and Helmand provinces, in which 7 armed Taliban were killed, 7 wounded and 4 others detained. 
219 warheads, 11 anti-vehicle mines, 3 pistols, and other light and heavy arms, a vehicle and a motorbike of enemies were seized by these forces.  T. Suraya-Yarzada

Kabul (BNA) Heavy snowfall has closed the transportation roads in four districts of Badakhshan province, Sanaullah the director of authority to manage natural disaster in Badakhshan said yesterday.
According to the officials the roads of Kofab, Shinkai, Nasai and Mainsi to the provincial capital Faizabad have been closed down on traffic due to snowfall.
The head of provincial council Mawlawi Zabihullah Atiq and representative of Ragh district also said that the roads in Kohistan and Raghistan districts have also been partially closed down over the past few days.
Meantime, Badakhshan governor Dr. Shah Wali Adeb confirming the reports said more roads on traffic will be closed down in other districts due to snowfall in winter.

Ring-leader of Taliban Arrested in Logar

Kabul (BNA) A ring-leader of Taliban was arrested by national army personnel in Logar province yesterday. 
The National defense ministry press office said, the special contingents personnel of national army conducted cleaning up operation for arresting of a ring-leader of Taliban in the outskirts of Pul-e-Alam of Logar province.
During this operation, a ring-leader of armed Taliban with other militia was arrested. 
It is said that he had committed responsibility of launching operations, providing money for purchasing arms and ammunition for his colleagues.
