Kabul (BNA) A message has been dispatched on behalf of President Hamid Karzai addressed to Malik Abdullah Al-Thani King of Jordan on the National Day of that country.
The message notes that representing the people of Afghanistan I want to congratulate you on the national day of your country to you and to the Jordanian brother nation.
The Afghans wish to expand their relations with the brother nation of Jordan in all spheres.
I wish Almighty Allah for good health of Your Excellency and success and the process of the brother nation of Jordan.

Kabul (BNA) The meeting of Council of Ministers (CM) chaired by President Karzai  held in Gulkhana palace.
The minister of education and head of the commission for Nawruz of 1393 presented the final map of the premise for holding of Nawruz festival of 1393 to be built on Paghman Hill along with other programs and activities to achieve the goal.
The CM while confirming the map and the Nawruz programs instructed the ministers of education, finance considering the saving in the expenses of this project, after deduction of some additional expenses finalize the cost of the project and the finance ministry should pay its cost to the commission.
As per the agenda minister of agriculture and irrigation along with the technical team while the head of central statistics department was also present, , presented the report of the ministry pertaining to land under cultivation and the level of products in 1391 compared to the past years.  He compared the agricultural products in the recent years from 1382 to 1391 on comparison basis.
Meanwhile, the minister of agriculture and irrigation informed the CM of the increase in forestry from 1.3 million hectares in 1393 to 1.69 million hectares and the reduction of irrigated land in 2010 from 3.6 million hectares to 2 million hectares due to water shortages, machineries and production factors, shortage of human resources and high cost prices compared to the market.
He also informed the CM about the mapping of land coverage at the country level and added that the new data base has been completed in January of 2013 has been improved.
The CM while confirming the technical explanations of the minister of agriculture and irrigation assigned the ministry to exert efforts toward mechanization of agriculture, procurement of improved seeds, upgrading the quality of agricultural products, reviving of irrigation canals, facilitating agriculture in localities for farmers, increasing of agro-industrial products like cotton, flowers, beet and other items.
The minister of mines informed the CM about the contract of gold mine of Nurba of Takhar which had been contracted with the West Land General Training company in 1387 and stressed that due to some shortcomings in the content of this contract, its amendment has been confirmed by the council of ministers in the mines law.
The CM adopted the amendments of the contract and assigned the presidential advisor in construction, technical, mines, energy and water affairs to amend and finalize the contract.
The ministers of finance, commerce and industries presented the stable tax tariff of petroleum products that met approval of the CM.
At the end four international conventions were presented to the CM by the Foreign Minister including:
1. Cooperation agreement between the University of Balkh and the University of Najmuddin Arbaken of Turkey,
2. Memorandum of understanding of cultural cooperation between Afghanistan and Sri Lanka,
3. Cooperation agreement in economic, educational, scientific and technological spheres between Afghanistan and Sri Lanka.
The CM assigned the Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Security Advisor to review the letter of understanding between Afghanistan and Iran with respect to water and power considering the national interests of Afghanistan and report to the presidential office.

16 Armed Rebels Killed

Kabul (BNA) A source of national defense ministry said 16 armed rebels including a commander of them were killed in three cleaning operations in Helmand province.
National defense ministry press office said BNA, the operations conducted by national army personnel in the relevant areas of Sangeen district of Helmand province, 14 armed rebels were killed and 6 others wounded.
Meanwhile, in other operation was launched in the relevant areas of Marja district of Helmand province, a rebel was killed and another wounded.
Also in the third operation carried out by national army forces in Nadali district of Helmand province, a commander of insurgents was killed.
National defense ministry said a national army soldier was killed and three others wounded as a result of roadside mine in Syeedabad district of Maidan-Wardak province.  T. Suraya-Yarzada

4 Insurgents Killed In Ghazni

Ghazni (BNA) In two separate incidents in Ghazni province, 4 armed insurgents were killed.
In an armed clash between Taliban and national army forces in the Pala village, Gero district, three armed insurgents were killed.
Qandagha in charges of 203 police unit said BNA, two other Taliban were wounded and two heavy weapons of them have been destroyed in the clash.
Also, the officials of 203 police unit killed another Taliban in the Osmankhail village, Ajrestan district.

So-called Taliban Governor Killed

Kuinduz (BNA) So-called governor of Taliban was killed in  Dasht-e-Arche  district of Kunuz province.
Qari Halim so-called governor of Taliban for Arche district was killed in an operation by Afghan forces.
Sayeed Sarwar Hosaini police spokesman of Kunduz said BNA, the Afghan security forces launched operation for cleansing of the district from presence of Taliban, in which Qari Halim so-called governor of Taliban along with his three colleagues were killed
A security officials and residents of Dash-e-Archi district said that the number of local and foreign Taliban were increased in the Dash-e-Archi district and 100 armed Taliban including of Chechenies and Uzbekistanis have been entered to Kunuz city.
Hosaini added, the bodies of the killed Taliban were remained in the spot and operation is continuing in the area.  T. Suraya-Yarzada

Kabul (BNA) US President Barak Obama has said that the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) to hold meeting of heads of state from the alliance members countries before termination of US combat mission in Afghanistan in 2014.
In a meeting with NATO secretary general Andres Fog Rasmussen, US president Obama announced that the alliance will hold session of heads of state from member nations in 2014 and the summit will analyze withdraw of NATO forces from Afghanistan and presence of US troops in the country after 2014.
In the meeting with the NATO secretary general Andres Fog Rasmussen in Washington US president Barack Obama announced that the alliance will hold meeting of heads of state from member nations next year to evaluate and analyze presence of US forces in the country after 2014 including war potentials of Afghan National Security Forces and plans of the US for Afghanistan after the timeline set for evacuations of international troops from the country in 2014.
President Obama reiterated that in the heads of state conference, the US and the NATO alliance intend to discuss overall security situations of Afghanistan after 2014 and most importantly war capabilities of Afghan security institutions.
Because, both the US and NATO want to be assured that Afghanistan never become hideout and safe haven to international terrorist mainly A Qaeda terrorist network and its counterparts.
Obama added that exact date of the NATO heads of state meeting would be announced by the secretary general Rasmussen.
Meanwhile, NATO secretary general Andres Fog Rasmussen announced that the alliance terminate its combat mission in Afghanistan in 2014 but committed to continue providing military training to the Afghan security institutions following the timeline set for withdraw of foreign forces.
Rasmussen emphasized that NATO’s main mission is ISAF mission and soon we will reach on a destiny making process, because, in the near future Afghan people would shoulder complete responsibility of their country and NATO is committed to continue backing Afghan security forces and added that NATO still constitutes world powerful military alliance.
However, in 2013 the Taliban and their terrorist collaborators conducted bloody attacks in various regions of Afghanistan particularly in Kabul, but, Afghan security forces effectively suppressed these attackers and responded properly, said NATO secretary general Andres Fog Rasmussen, adding that ANSF has accomplished duties effectively in recent years and increase or decrease on strength of these forces related to the decision of government of Islamic republic of Afghanistan.
He reiterated that the alliance is fully committed to support Afghanistan in the transformation decade starting in 2014 until 2024 and it demonstrates longstanding supports of international community to Afghanistan following the timeline of foreign troop’s pullout.
Security institutions of Afghanistan unveils that Afghan National Security Forces have retained sufficient war potentials and they are fully capable of conducting their professional duties in effective manner and international community is also interested to contribute in boosting up war capabilities of Afghan security institutions so that these forces protect their country from internal and external threats effectively and Washington has also vowed to provide war plans to Afghan forces.
This is while more than 62,000 US and 32,000 NATO forces confronting the insurgent Taliban and their Al Qaeda counterparts in various parts of the country.

Kabul (BNA) The Afghan and coalition security forces confirmed today the death of a Haqqani leader, Faizullah, during an operation in Gardez district, Paktiya province, Saturday.
Faizullah, also known as Shahab, conducted improvised explosive device attacks and intimidation campaigns targeting Afghan and coalition forces.
He facilitated the movement of weapons and military equipment into the local area.
He was also responsible for kidnapping operations and coordinated with senior leaders to carry out guidance within the Haqqani network.
In other news throughout Afghanistan:
The Afghan and coalition security forces confirmed today the arrest of a Taliban leader during an operation in Khugyani district, Nangarhar province, yesterday.
The leader has conducted numerous attacks against Afghan and coalition forces.
He also coordinates the movement of weapons and fighters through Nangarhar province and performs limited intelligence duties for local Taliban networks.
Also the Afghan Quick Reaction Force killed 20 enemies of Afghanistan and detained one other while responding to an attack on an ALP checkpoint in Orgun-e district Paktika province yesterday.  The Afghan force engaged an unknown number of enemies of Afghanistan shortly after being dispatched by the District Operation Center.  The detainee is in the custody of the Afghan Uniformed Police.

Gardiz (BNA) As a result of a suicide attack in the Samkani district of Paktia province, a frontier police along with 11 civilians were martyred and a police and 8 others wounded this morning.
Colonel Zalmai Oryakhail police chief of Paktia said BNA, at 10am, a motorcyclist blew up his improvised explosive devices in the bazaar of Shahr-e-Naw of Zamkani district in which 12 civilians were martyred and 8 others wounded.
According to Oryakhail, there were no casualties among Afghan and coalition forces in the incident.

Maidan-Shaher (BNA) About 200 Pakistani military personnel in disguise of Taliban came to Maidan-Wardak.
These Pakistani militants have been stationed in Jaghto, Daimardad and Chak districts of Maidan-Wardak province on May 22nd. 
Ataullah Khogyani governor for Maidan-Wardak province said BNA, according to the reliable information of intelligence sources about 200 Pakistani troops in disguise of Taliban have come to that province for carrying out of destructive activities.
According to him there were persons among these people who were active in organizing suicide attacks, making mines and other destructive actions and also have the duty to train local Taliban.
Spokesman for Maidan-Wardak governor said that these people with the cooperation of local Taliban try to disrupt the ideas of people against Afghan forces.
Residents of the area complain that the situation caused concern of the people but till now the government has not adopted any measures against Taliban, therefore the people will face more problems.

13 Terrorists Arrested

Kabul (BNA) The personnel of national security Dept. arrested a 13 member group of terrorists in Zabul province.
National security press office said BNA, a 13 member group of terrorists were arrested in an operation carried out by the personnel of national security directorate while they were busy in carrying out of destructive and terrorist activities in Zabul province.
The arrested terrorist during their primary investigation said that they had active role in abducting people, planting mines, collecting money from people, supplying weapons and attraction of people to Taliban group in the center and districts of that province.  T. Suraya-Yarzada
