Two Mine Planters Killed In Kandahar

Kandahar (BNA) Two mine planters were killed and one wounded in an air attack of NATO forces in Maiwand district of Kandahar province, last night. 
According to Kandahar security commandment press office, three persons wanted to plant a mine in Mazrai village, Maiwand district, were identified by NATO airplanes and came under air attack in which two suspects were killed and one injured. 
The dead bodies and the injured person have been transferred to the Kandahar security commandment, said the source. 
A Kalashnikov and a pistol were seized by police. 
These mine planters are residents of Mazrai and Chaldozi villages of Maiwand district.  Translated by Suraya-Yarzada

Afghan Specialists To Return From Iran

Kabul (BNA) The Afghan specialists residing in Iran will return to Afghanistan with the cooperation of Iran and they will be employed in needed areas for reconstruction of Afghanistan. 
Iranian ambassador to Kabul said that around 15000 Afghans educated in the higher educational institutions of Iran exist among the Afghan refugees who possess the capacity of scientific specialized knowledge in different spheres in Afghanistan. 
Dr. Jamahir Anwari minister of refugees and repatriates after signing of this agreement said that we signed the tri-partite agreement for facilitating the return of the Afghan specialists residing in Iran on the basis of which Iran will assist USD 400,000 for implementation of this agreement and that the refugee organization shall assist in recognition of and attraction of the Afghan refugee specialists in Iran to cooperate in their return to Afghanistan. 
Dr. Feda Hussain the Iranian ambassador in Kabul said that his country shall assist Afghanistan in this respect so that the sons of Afghanistan having being educated in Iran participate in the reconstruction of their country. 
The head of refugee organization also talked at the ceremony and called this program as very effective for Afghanistan.  
Jalal Noorani advisor to the ministry of information and culture, Dr. Abdullah Fahim advisor to the public health ministry and some representatives of other government departments and foreign organization also took part at this ceremony. 
The spokesperson of the ministry of refugees and repatriates stated that Iran shall assist in payment of six to one year salary of those specialists and they will be assigned to the needy government departments.

Liquid Gas Price To Be Reduced

Kabul (BNA) In a briefing with newsmen, minister of commerce and industries Dr. Anwarulhaq Ahadi expressing his dissatisfaction over private sector dealing in regard with fuel and gas said that his ministry purchased 10,000 tons liquid gas and offers through state stores in a suitable price to the Kabul citizens. 
Dr. Ahadi added that the number of gas state stores also be increased in the city. 
This is in a time that the Kabul citizens raised their complaints regarding the sky-rocketing of gas price in the city. 
In this briefing Ahadi added that the private sector feels us vulnerable if serious be treated, it would limit the offering of gas to the market. 
He stated that we increase that capacity of gas dealing and the number of state run stores. 
According to him, through government stores, one kg gas would be offered against afs. 55. 
This is in a time that now; this quantity of gas is sold against Afs, 70 or more than it.

Kabul (BNA) Spokesman for Afghan ministry of defense in a joint news conference held on Tuesday said security has improved in the country comparing with the last year. 
In this news conference, General Zahir Azimi said it is expected that security situation would get better in coming year. 
Azimi added the second phase of security transition is going well and Afghan security organs are ready to hold the security responsibilities in the areas specified in the second phase. 
He asserted the number of ANA soldiers is to reached to 180,000 in the coming months. 
General Abdul Wahab Wardak, Afghan commander for air force also spoke in the news conference and said air education center has been reconstructed in Shindand district and there are 18 planes for training. 
He added nearly 70 young pilots are under training, while 80 Afghan pilots are being trained in UAE and 28 others in USA.

Kabul (BNA) We were informed that the famous singer of the country Rahim Ghamzada who was suffering from illness has died at the age of 75 yesterday. 
He had throat cancer and died at the Nangarhar hospital. Late Rahim Ghamzada has spent 55 of his age in preparing of poems and epic songs and many of his songs remain at the archive of National Radio-TV.  Dr. Sayed Makhodoom Raheen Minister of Information and Culture regretting his death called Ghamzada as outstanding singer who was poet writer and composer and had skills in play of musical instruments. 
Dr. Raheen called his death of loss for the musical society of the country and condoled for his death to his family and relatives and the country’s artists. 
According to another report, the body of late Rahim Ghamzada was put to rest in his ancestral cemetery. 
The message of Minister of Information and Culture was read by head of the information and culture department of Nangarhar. 
In the message Ghamzada was considered an outstanding singer who via music has rendered a good service to his people. 
It adds that Ghamzada’s songs will remain in memory of his people and his fans and his death is a loss. 
The head of the information and culture department Aurang Samim said at the ceremony that late Ghamzada has been a pious personality and mostly he was praying and was on fast. 
Mohammad Hashim, Ghamshareek, advisor to the governor of the province read out the message of Gul Agha Sherzoi.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Zabeer Khaksar a relative of Ghamzada thanked government in charges over their sympathies. 
His body was taken to Khogyani district for burial there. 
His prayer is organized on the 26th of Qaus from 8 am to 11 am at the Gunbudi mosque of Hazrate Ali (PBUH) of Jalalabad city.

It is my pleasure that sports in Afghanistan like other areas is progressing from the beginning of the new era and this of course is due to the attention of the in charges of this sector and now we are among other world countries and our sportsmen and women have attained pride for the country. 
Sports have been part of life in the centuries and our people two were engaged in sports for hundreds of years. 
Our forefathers were training their sons the skill of wrestling and swords usage and they believed that they can defend their country with these skills. 
In the present era that sports have become an important of lives, the government of Afghanistan has prepared better grounds compared to the past. 
In the recent years our sportsmen have made epics and in case better grounds are prepared for the sportsmen they can gain better prides for the country. 
Brothers and sisters,
The National Committee of Afghanistan in the recent years despite limited possibilities compared to neighboring countries has taken very bold steps in development of sports in the country. 
We are witnessing in recent years that our sportsmen bring in medals and prides from different matches and this indeed is remarkable. 
The progress made by our sportsmen in epic sports, football, basketballs, cricket and Taekwandu indicate that they are working in coordinated manner in the world of sports and our athletes for the first time got medals in the world matches’ in the recent two years and if we can provide them with better possibilities they can better shape their skills and bring in additional pride for the country. 
Availing this opportunity it is an honor for me to celebrate and congratulate each of our athletes on the victory of our football and cricket teams in the South Asian matches. 
It is worth praising that the Kabul Sports Stadium when it was heavily damaged is now rehabilitated into a fascinating ground for athlete with the cooperation of the US government that is now attaching the athletes. 
On this occasion I am thanking the US ambassador and General Allen Commander of ISAF in Afghanistan. 
I am hopeful that with additional efforts of athletes and cooperation of friendly countries we can move towards further progress in sports.

Mine Explosion Kills Six Civilians In Helmand

Kabul (BNA) Mine explosion in Helmand province killed six civilians when a vehicle hit a roadside mine in Haiderabad area, Gerishk district, southern Helmand province. 
The victims included children and women. 
According to another report, as a result of an explosion in Sangeen district of Helmand two police and three civilians were wounded. 
The explosives had been placed in a motorbike. 
The perpetrators of this incident have been arrested by the police.

Kabul (BNA) US Defense Secretary addressing a joint press conference with President Hamid Karzai has said that the US is committed in its long-term cooperation with Afghanistan. 
He added that Afghanistan not only has US support and the region, but the international community’s support towards moving to stability and further strengthening. 
Appreciating efforts of the Afghan authorities in enabling the security forces for defending their country, said that ensuring the security of the Traditional Loya Jirgah attests to our claim. 
He noted that as a result of sacrifices of the Afghan and international forces, the first phase of security transitional were successfully ended and the second phase of transition has been declared by the President of Afghanistan and this is a great progress indeed. 
He stressed further that we are committed that the blood the Afghan and the US forces have shed and accepted sacrifices will not be wasted. 
He added further that we shall reach our objective of a free Afghanistan with national sovereignty and self-reliant, that ensure its security on its own and there should no terrorists.
He described further that in his meeting with President Karzai we discussed our joint achievements including that how Pakistan will be prepared to work for further regional cooperation and stability in Afghanistan.
Welcoming the US defense Minister President Karzai said that we discussed current situation of Afghanistan and the region, strategic relations of Afghanistan and the region, strategic relations of Afghanistan with the US, training of Afghan security forces.  Answering a question President Karzai said Afghan-US cooperation has brought about security and stability in the country and this stability take us to better further, however, what has not been accomplished is individual security of the people against the attacks. 
As regards intrusion of US drone into Iranian air space president Karzai said that the Iranian government has sent a note to us in this respect and our foreign ministry if following this issue. 
President Karzai added that is committed to a perfect relation with its neighbors and during the past ten years the US and Iran has realized the position of Afghanistan has been partner in presence of the international forces and the US is also the great friend of our people. 
Having common cultural and linguistic bonds with Iran, Afghanistan will continue its ties with Iran and do not want to involve itself in the tension prevailing in US-Iran relations. 
We are desirous that they be friends and the Afghan national sovereignty and territorial integrity should not be utilized against any of them.

Kabul (BNA) President Hamid Karzai in his 15 day radio address asked the students of schools and universities of the country to use the winter vacation for following their education and upgrading their knowledge. 
Addressing the students he added that they should carry out their routine activities in an organized plan and envisages work, entertainment, sports and education during the winter vacations. 
He also asks them that by enrolling at the winter courses allocated for some subjects in the education ministry schools use as much as they can and try to improve their skills and learn foreign languages and computers so they can utilize the contemporary knowledge. 
He also asked the parents to organize a plan on the bias of which they engaged in education and entertainments and reiterated that if they keep away from pen and books they will face problem in the beginning of the new education year. 
The president emphasized that the children should be prevented from excess entertainment or they are placed in isolation. 
At this address he asked the graduated of the country to focus on their subjects in order to be able to easily enter into the higher educational institutions.

Kabul (BNA) A consultative meeting of Jihadi leaders and national political figures was chaired by President Karzai to follow up discussions on the issue of setting a practical mechanism and conditions for talks with armed opposition. 
A similar meeting was held on Tuesday, where participants agreed to continue the discussions on the important issues of national concern. 
The meeting focused, in particular, on agreeing to lay down a practical mechanism and to set specific conditions for talks with the opposition. 
It was emphasized that the peace process be pursued in a manner that is led and owned by Afghans. 
The meeting also agreed for a known address or office for the armed opposition established only for the purpose of negotiations. 
It was stressed in the meeting that the office or address to represent Taliban for negotiations be based inside Afghanistan and in case the ground is not paved for the office to open in Afghanistan, then it should be located in a Muslim country preferably Saudi Arabia or Turkey. 
The participants in the meeting underlined that before any peace talks begin the conflict and violence against the people of Afghanistan must stop. 
It was also decided that no other country or entity should intervene in the process without the agreement of the government of Afghanistan. 
It was strongly noted in the meeting that respect and preserving the achievements gained over the past ten years as well as respect to the Constitution remains as basic conditions for negotiations. 
Participants in today’s meeting included Vice President Marshal Fahim, Prof. Mujaddedi, Pir Gilani, Salahuddin Rabani, Haji Mohammad Muhaqiq, Qeyamuddin Kashaf, Abdul Hadi Arghandiwal, Haji Deen Mohammad, Sayd Mansoor Naderi, Senior Minister Arsala, Gul Rahman Qazi,  Sulaiman Yari, Maulavi Arsala Rahmani, Foreign Minister Dr. Rasoul, Dr. Sadiq Mudabir and Abdul Karim Khuram.
