Kabul (BNA) The minister for information and culture Dr. Sayed Makhdom Raheen while praising the public and private media outlets for airing necessary programs during the month of Ramadan or fasting month called on media outlets to respect the national and traditional values of society.
In meeting with official from government and non-government officials of the media outlets here yesterday, Dr. Raheen also urged the media to strengthen freedom of expression and institutionalize democracy in the country with keeping in mind the morale norms.
Addressing the directors of televisions at the meeting the minister for information and culture stated that the broadcasting and airing programs must be balanced and based on religious and national values.
He also cautioned that negligence sometimes weaken the national police and national army, adding that media are the fruit of freedom of expression.
It is the right of media to criticize the government over its shortage but safeguard the national unity.
The president, he added had been criticized by media outlets including television channels but has tolerated, while the criticism in many cases was no more than insulting.
An insulting which is forbidden in the constitution, Dr. Raheen said. However, the president did not want any journalists to be punished, instead he overlooked.
The minister also in his speech said that presenting immoral films is interference into the space of the families, Dr. Raheen while pointing out in the emergence and availability of immoral films in bazaar said the ministry for Information and Culture through Afghan Film had checked such vulgarity.

Kabul (BNA) The work for the reconstruction of Amir Abdul Rahman Khan Tomb has been completed and was formally inaugurated yesterday by deputy to the ministry of Information and Culture, Nabi Farahi. 
In his opening remarks in the ceremony attended by several officials, Mr. Farahi said that the former king’s tomb is one of the cultural heritages of the country which was renovated at a cost of 3.5 million Afghanis.
He also said that the late king, Amir Abdul Rahman Khan had worked for national unity and safeguarded the country’s boundaries during his rule.

Kabul (BNA) The head of justice department of the US embassy during his visit to the Ikhtiarudin castle in Herat city said that United States would continue to maintain and preserve historic monuments and cultural heritage of Afghanistan.
While accompanied by Ahmad Ahsan Sarwaryar the director of culture and information department of Herat, the US diplomat assured his government’s continued support in preserving and maintaining archeological sites and historical monuments.
The work for the second phase of the rehabilitation of Ikhtiarudin castle with US financial support had been completed in two years and work for the third phase would be begin in near future.

Kabul (BNA) A joint exhibition of Afghanistan and Iran was opened in Kabul yesterday. 
In the exhibition 25 Afghan productive firms and 38 Iran companies put in display their products. 
In his opening remarks the minister of rural development Hassan Abdullahi emphasized for boosting trade relations between the two nations. 
Dr. Sadruddin Sehar the deputy of the ministry of commerce and industries and Azarkhsh Hafizi the international relation officer of the chamber of commerce and industries also spoke in the exhibition and stressed for enhancing trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. 
The volume of export to Iran reaches to some 40 million US dollars annually while imports from Iran are around 1.300 billion US dollars annually.
