Kabul (BNA) The preliminary meeting of the commission for holding the international seminar on “Ghazni in the course of history” with Dr. Sayed Makhdoom Raheen the Minister for Information on the chair was held yesterday. 
In the meeting, attended by some legislators from Ghazni province, scholars and writers, Dr. Raheen described the international seminar on Ghazni very important and said that Ghazni for its role in promoting Islam and Islamic values and culture is very important and that is why the ISESCO had chosen Ghazni as the capital of Islamic culture. 
In the meeting the modalities of holding the international seminar was discussed and a commission was also constituted. 
It is expected that the seminar with the participation of schools from Afghanistan and the region will be held early in 2013 in Kabul and Ghazni respectively. 
The commission also called upon the scholars, writers, researchers and historians to write their articles and present their suggestions and opinions for the better holding of the coming international seminar.

Kabul (BNA) With reciting of the messages of Dr. Sayed Makhdoom Raheen Minister of Information and Culture, the memorial meeting of the high scientific personality of late Ustad Mohammad Kazim Ahang was marked at the international press center. 
The meeting was attended by deputy ministers and heads of department of information and culture ministry, deputy minister of women affairs, some representatives of people at the parliament, some lecturers of faculty of journalism of Kabul University and some scholars and cultural figures. 
To start with Dr. Raheen’s message was read out by Jalal Nurani advisor of the ministry that said in a part: “Mohammad Kazim Ahng has spend all his life in compiling of scientific books in journalism and reporting spheres, he was quite affectionate, humble, honest Ustad of research and has trained many students who are now outstanding and skilled people at the country’s media system as well as at the ministry of information and culture. 
The ministry in order to appreciate his services wishes peace for his soul. 
Meanwhile, the message of Dr. Obeidullah Obied Minister of Higher Education was read out by Ustad Abdul Zeem Noor Bakhsh. 
The message recalled the good services of Ustad Kazim Ahang in the journalism area and his devotion for educating a large number of journalists for the country. 
Ustad Habibullah Rafie member of the academy of sciences also talked on the personality and services of Ustad Kazim Ahang. 
Dr. Sayed Makhdoom Raheen recalling the scientific personality of Kazim Ahang said that in the past ten years when we were discussing the compiling of the media law then Ustad had cooperation with the ministry. 
Abdul Hafeez Mansur and Mohammad Daoud Kalakani members of the parliament, Ustad Masoud lecturer of economy faculty of Kabul University and Hajji Mohammad Asif brother of late Kazim Ajhang also dwelt on various dimensions of life of Kazim Ahang. 
They proposed that a higher education institution be named after Prof. Kazim Ahang. 
Also Mohammad Waheed Gharwal dean of the Faculty of Journalism read out the biography of Ustad Kazim Ahnag. 
He said Ustad Kazim was born in 1313 HS in Shaikhan village of Mirbacha Kot district of Kabul province; he completed his education in Mirbacha Kot and then joined the journalism faculty of Kabul University. 
He obtained his Masters degree in 1965 from a USA university and later he served as deputy editor of Islah daily, editor of Kabul Times, head of Bakhtar Agency and dean of the journalism faculty of Kabul University. 
Ahang has authored 20 special works in journalism in Dari, Pashto and English languages.

Kabul (BNA) The Ministry of Information and Culture with the cooperation of National Gallery initiated the first exhibition of calligraphy in Babur Garden.
Initially Dr. Sayed Makhdoom Raheen Minister of Information and Culture welcomed the audience and expressed pleasure over holding of this exhibition.
He said, “Fortunately our media has expanded and the freedom of speech is the pride of our nation.”
“In this exhibition calligraphers and artists throughout Afghanistan are participating and our country has excellent background of calligraphy and painting and these two arts have its special place before the people of Afghanistan and for the time immemorial our artists such as Ghulam Mohammad Maimanagi and other artists served this nation despite the numerous problems in Afghanistan and in the region they had their outstanding works” he added.
He also asked for holding such exhibitions in the country and said that this will be open for three days at the services of the countrymen.
He stressed that the ministry of information and culture is exerting efforts towards growth of arts so that better facilities are provided to them.
Others present there included Asadullah Sarwari the most outstanding artist of the country.
He said that it is pleasure that today we could gather artists from all parts of the country and holding of such exhibition can ensure further growth of art and culture in the country.
He added that art is a beauty and creativity and the artists tries its best to reflects the beauties and I hope that such exhibitions are also organized outside Afghanistan.
Sameera Ouluwi an artist from Kandahar said that the artists want to present their works to all the people and if they come together they present works.
This is the first time that the ministry of information and culture organizing such an exhibition.

Kabul (BNA) Mother Day was celebrated in ceremonies with a concert of Mrs. Parasto Mehryar at Ministry of Information and Culture.
The ceremony was attended by Dr. Sayed Makhdoom Raheen Minister of Information and Culture and Dr. Husson Banu Ghazanfar Minister of Women Affairs.
In a brief address Dr. Raheen said that the position of mother and women in tradition of Afghanistan reflects affection of mothers towards their children.
Dr. Husson Banu Ghazanfar highlighted some of the programs of her ministry aimed at resolving the problems of women. She said that the ministry has prepared a program that can resolve the problems of the women throughout the country.
Fatema Gailani chairman of the women association said that the problems and tragedies of women in the country is immense and its resolving needs fundamental work.
Meanwhile, some gifts and appreciation letters were prepared by the ministry of information and culture, women affairs ministry, the cinematography union was presented to Mrs. Parasto Mehryar the Taranum of Afghanistan to appreciate her services in singing and in music.
Mrs. Parasto Mehryar added to the beauty of the ceremony by presenting excellent musical songs to the audience.
According to another report a meeting was also held to honor Mother Day in the Ministry of Higher Education.
Dr. Obeidullah Obeid Minister of Higher Education said that his ministry tries its best to prepare the ground for attraction of more females in its higher education foundations.
