Kabul (BNA) Chief Executive, Dr. Abdullah Abdullah said that media and journalists were one of the terrorist groups’ goals, because they have realized the power of media, his office said in a statement. 
According to the statement, addressing a gathering held to mark Journalist Day, Dr. Abdullah said that the government has sometimes used the journalists’ reports on fighting corruption and solving security vacuums. He added however, today’s achievements are not comparable with last years and there have taken steps on laws and access right to information, but they are not satisfactory, the statement further said. He stressed that based on Afghanistan Journalists’ Center figures, the violence rate against journalists has declined, but still there are many cases that have not been addressed, the statement added. Dr. Abdullah also assured to step up for establishing Journalists Supporting Fund, the statement continued. At the end, Dr. Abdullah rewarded the Journalist of the Year and ten other best journalists with appreciation letters. The program was organized by Afghanistan Journalists’ Center to mark Journalist Day.
