MoIC Asks Ending of Impunity For Crimes Against Journalists

Kabul (BNA) The Ministry of Information and Culture’s leadership, considering the recent reports by the media associations and the United Nation’s Education, Scientific, Cultural Organization (UNESCO), as the entity for preserving the rights of media and supporting media workers, asks for ending of impunity against those committing crime against the journalists.
The ministry releasing a statement said based on UNESCO’s recent report, Mexico was the worst country for journalists in 2016, which shows efforts for ending impunity against journalists didn’t go well.
“We know that most of the crimes against journalists have taken place by the insurgents.  We also must not forget that government organs have also been accused,” the statement added, saying breaking the law and violation of the human rights were key indexes of the countries in crisis, which Afghanistan has also bee considered among those countries.
“War and insecurities were mainly behind misfortunes, but never prevents implementation of law,” the statement concluded.
