Media Should Work on National Unity, Khost Elders

Kabul (BNA) In a meeting with acting minister of information and culture Prof. Mohammad Rassoul Bawari, a number of influential figures, elders and representatives of Khost province stressed that media should promote unity and cohesion among all tribes of the country, Bakhtar News Agency (BNA) reported on Monday.
According to the agency, the participants said they were facing trivial programs and promotion of alien culture via a number of visual media, adding the media underestimate our Afghan national defense and security forces’ sacrifices and avoid to use ‘Martyr’ before the name of those who lose their lives in defending the country.
They asked the ministry of information and culture to end these abnormalities. The also asked the ministry to hold conferences and discus customs, traditions and cultures of different tribes in the country.
They said they were ready to host such a conference in their province, the agency added.
Afterward, the acting minister of information and culture said his ministry was the founder of freedom of speech in the country and it was committed to support the press and media.
He also promised to hold such a conference in Khost at the end of this year.
