Govt. Media Joint Committee Holds Meeting

Kabul (BNA) Chaired by Second Vice President and head of government and media joint committee, 20th meeting of the committee was held.
In the meeting, security officials first delivered their report in connection with cases of violence against journalists recent months.
Officials for Ministry of Interior (MoI) reported of nine cases of violence against journalists as an employee of Radio and Television of Afghanistan (RTA) was martyred during recent attack of Taliban on Ghazni city.  The incident happened after guards of the media organization were killed by Taliban fighters.
The report also pointed at cases of violence against journalists in provincial capitals of some provinces of the country and the cases are under investigation in judicial organs.
Meanwhile, National Directorate of Security (NDS) reported of reviewing telephone threat of Faryad Radio head in Herat, threat issue of ITV journalist in the respective province, investigation of threat of Pajhwok News Agency journalist in Zabul, reviewing threat of a number of journalists in Paktika and investigation of beating claim of Zan TV’s security guards by security personnel.
In the meeting, representative of Attorney General Office (AGO) also reported of reviewing relevant cases of violence against journalists in the respective office, saying that from among 16 cases, six of them have been finalized.
Representative of the Independent Directorate of Local Governance also reported of modality of holding provincial meetings of the joint committee.
In other part of the session, the issue of the respective committee’s provincial committee in Herat was reviewed and it was decided that a combined delegation from media and journalists federation, NDS and IDLG led by deputy minister of information and culture will soon pay a visit to Herat to address the issue.
