Minister Safi Seeks Firoz Koh’s Continued Cultural Activities in Afghanistan

Kabul (BNA) Acting Minister of Information and Culture Hasina Safi met with Firoz Koh (Turquoise Mountain) cultural heritage advisor here yesterday. BNA reported. The advisor briefed the Acting Minister of Information and Culture on Firoz Koh activities in Afghanistan, saying the institution began activity in 2006 and has been working in areas of cultural heritages, in particular in intangible cultural heritages, training and development of the localities. The advisor went on saying 150 historical houses were restored in last 12 years in Kabul by Firoz Koh, adding the institution has also conducted training programs on cultural heritages preservation for the local people. According to him, the Firoz Koh has been training individuals in different fields of art, including that of handicrafts, wood engraving, carpet weaving, calligraphy and jewelry. Praising Firoz Koh activities, Minister Safi said the cultural activities needed to be managed based on MoU between the ministry and the institution. The Acting Minister also emphasized on introduction of the Afghanistan’s cultural heritages and historical monuments to world including them in world heritage list.
