Minister Safi Stresses Women Empowerment Through Exchange Programs

Kabul (BNA) Acting minister of information and culture Hasina Safi, leading a delegation to Indonesia, met with Indonesian deputy ministers of protection of children and women empowerment, BNA reported.
In the meeting, the Indonesian deputy ministers of the protection of children and women empowerment recalled of the ministries’ programs, adding that they were responsible to provide employment opportunities for women in their country as relevant ministries had local offices in all provinces of Indonesia through which they were addressing problems of women in the country too.
In the meeting, deputy ministers of the protection of children and women empowerment said that they have also launched women empowerment programs in remote areas and districts to give chance to women in development programs so that they could reach self-sufficiency.
Afterwards, acting minister of information and culture Hasina Safi spoke and recalled of Afghanistan government’s programs launched for women empowerment in various fields, adding that the ministry of women affairs was a policy-maker ministry and operating towards defending the women rights in the country.
Minister Safi further said that the government of Afghanistan was committed to several conventions in the field of supporting women.  Acting minister of information and culture also briefed related to Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission and other national and international organizations operating towards defending Afghan women’s rights in the country, adding that currently nearly 300 women were working in judicial organs of the country.
She further said that more than 25 women were in Afghanistan parliament and more women now working as ministers, deputy ministers and ambassadors, showing strong determination and commitment of Afghanistan for empowerment of Afghan women in the country.
