Tuesday, April 7, 2020 Kabul (BNA) Ministry of Information and Culture (MoIC) asked both the country’s security forces and the government armed oppositions to avoid conflicts around Jam Minaret and ease restoration process of the world heritage site, a statement from the ministry said yesterday. The ministry by releasing a statement to media asked the two warring sides, including government and the armed oppositions to avoid any confrontation in the site, where the Jam minaret construction is ongoing. The ministry warned that any side if fueled war would be responsible for further postponement of the restoration process of the historical minaret. The ministry said that in coordination and cooperation of UNESCO could get two million USD fund for the reconstruction of the site and agreement reached with ALEF construction company to start the consolidation process, but the arrival of harsh 2019 winter postponed the process. Later insecurity around the area, where work was expected to be started for construction of the minaret again delayed the process, the ministry said. The statement added that effective work has been done for the consolidation of the seashores near the minaret, but the rebuilding process of the minaret was again postponed due to change in the security situation around the site.
