Well-Known Journalist Shafiqa Habibi Honored, Book Unveiled in Kabul

Kabul (BNA) During a ceremony here yesterday, Shafiqa Habibi, the country’s well-known Radio and Television anchor was honored for her half a century  activities, and the book "Umm al-Balaghah", focusing her journalistic and social biography was unveiled too, Bakhtar News Agency reported.
The event was organized by Youth Journalist Leaders Association and was held at the Ministry of Information and Culture’s press hall, where a number of the culturists, journalists and youth attended the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, acting and nominee minister of information and culture, Mohammad Tahir Zuhair, said the event was held to recognize the half a century tireless works of Shafiqa Habibi and congratulated the unveiling of her book to the journalism community, in particular to the women journalists.
“I hope that Shafiqa Habibi's works will be a successful model for all young journalists,” the minister added, as quoted by the agency.
Hinting to problems of media after decade of democracy in the country, Minister Zuhair called freedom of press and expression as the national achievement of Afghanistan. The Minister called such achievement very important for the country, asking people to help safeguard such gains.
Representing the Youth Journalist Leaders Association, Beheshta Mohammadi briefed the audience on the contents of the book, adding ups and downs of Habibi’s life has been covered by the book and said it could be a good model for the country’s young journalists.
Meanwhile, Shafiqa Habibi thanked the organizers of the event, saying her book has included her experiences and advices for the journalists.
At the end of ceremony, a plaque was delivered to Habibi, by acting minister of information and culture for her tireless journalistic works.
