World Press Day marked in Kabul

Kabul (BNAS) The World Press Day was marked by the journalists union of Afghanistan.
At the ceremony held in this respect was attended by Dr. Sayed Makhdoom Raheen Minister of information and culture, Deen Mohammad Mubarez Rashedi deputy minister and Jalal Nurani advisor of minister of information and culture, Sedeeq Sedeqi spokesperson of interior ministry, UNAMA representative’s and some journalists and in charges of media attended.
Addressing the gathering Dr. Raheen touched on the non-availability of possibilities for the media and said that despite less possibility the ministry focused on compilation of the press law.
He called the media a pleasant fruit of the freedom of speech tree and added that the media in the past 11 years has advanced qualitatively land quantitatively despite having some shortcomings.
He noted that in the past 11 years the ministry has achieved marked progress and it has facilitated access to law and the press, the regulation for employment in the media, the Copy Wright law, publication policy and that the improved texts of the law on the press has been referred to the related organ.  He emphasized that the media should avoid insults, lies, disrespect and baseless accusations against the people and the families and they should take note of the youth’s morale as well.
Hafizullah Barekzai chairman of the union of journalists, Mohammad Daoud Yaqubi reporter, Jalal Nurani advisor of the ministry and Rasul Jalalzai lecturer of the faculty of journalism also spokes on freedom of speech and the status of the media.
Spokesperson of interior ministry, head of journalists union and Jalal Nurani also attended a press conference.
According to another report, Dr. Raheen said that the government has no plan for silencing of freedom of speech in the country.
Deen Mohammad Mubarez also said that the government of Afghanistan in accordance with the constitution and approved laws is duty bound to preserve freedom of speech.
Mubarez said that we are working for reach an ideal freedom of the speech, adding that we should establish the freedom of speech in Afghanistan among the Islamic countries unavailability of which always make them desperate and its existence raises the credibility of culture and civilization in this region.
He added that the powerful do not will to be criticized by any one and this is among in all society including Afghanistan.
Other speakers also dwelt on the freedom of speech and the world press day.
