30 Armed Men Joined Peace Process

Kabul (BNA) 30 irresponsible armed men were joined to peace process in Obea district’s military council of Herat province today. 
According to national defense ministry press office to BNA, these irresponsible men previously had activities against government in vicinities of Obea district were joined with 14 arms to peace process.  Translated by Suraya-Yarzada

700 Families Received Assistance In Ghazni

Ghazni (BNA) UN office for refugees distributed winter materials for more than 700 destitute and displaced families in Ghazni province today. 
Musa Khan Akbarzada governor of Ghazni said to this news agency, these assistances consists of coal, tent, blanket and winter clothes, were distributed for destitute families in the center of that province.  Translated by Suraya-Yarzada

Bridge Inaugurated In Kunduz

Kunduz (BNA) With inauguration of a bridge in Chardara District of Kunduz province, hundreds families benefited from transportation facilities. 
This bridge has 72 meter length and 6 meter wide and has been constructed on Chardara River.  
Chardara district governor said to BNA, this bridge has been constructed from the assistance of German at the cost of $ one million within one year. 
The mentioned bridge was constructed in Rahmat-Bay village, Chardarda district of Kunduz province and transportation problems of approximately 20,000 families were solved. 
In the inaugural ceremony of this bridge, Mohammad Anwar Jegdelak governor of Kunduz said this bridge has important role in economic improvement of people, and shows efforts of government on utility services and ensuring of peace.  
Commander of German PRT in Kunduz province said that his country’s cooperation will continue with Afghanistan.
It is said that asphalting work of six and half km road and construction of a bridge along the road of Chardara district of Kunduz province at the cost of six and half million Euro from assistance of Germany is underway and it will be completed within one year.

Six Cabinet Members Leave For Herat, Kandahar

Kabul (BNA) Afghan ministers of agriculture, irrigation, education, rehabilitation and rural development, counter narcotics and public work have left for Heart and Kandahar provinces.
The cabinet members are to review relevant organs, projects in Kandahar province and find causes which have prevented from implementation of a number of projects in the province.
The ministers will also meet with governor, provincial council and influenced tribal elders.

Portrayal Monument Exhibition Opened In Faryab

Kabul (BNA) Portrayal monument exhibition has been opened with cooperation of provincial directorate of information and culture in Faryab province.
Nearly 25 portrayals of Sayed Shah Mohammad, a local artist, have been put in the exhibition.
The monuments of the exhibition show endowment and work of the Afghan artist.
Sayed Shah Mohammad has made pot, sculpture, and bird of wood.
The artist says he worked hard and spent much time to make such monuments.
Shah Mirza Munshizada, provincial director of information and culture says they are trying to encourage the Afghan artists by putting their handmade materials in exhibition to pave the way for them to sell their monuments.

Violence Against Reporters Increases

Kabul (BNA) In charge of the media watch said that during the year 2011 a total of 80 instances of violence against the reporters of including murder, torture and threats towards the reporters in Afghanistan have taken place.
Sedequllah Tuheedi in charge of media watch told the press in its annual report that during the 2011 the numbers of violence against the reporters have increased including three murders, six instances of injured, two arrests, 33 instances of torture and beating, 15 instances of abusing and 21 instances of threats towards the repentances. 
Tuheedi added that of the 80 instances 49 were committed by the government, 9 including murder by the Taliban, 40 by the NATO forces, and 18 instances of violence have been done by the unknown armed elements.
He recalled reporters Jafar Wafa from radio Kalagosh of Paghman killed as a result of mine, Ahmad Omiad Khepelwak killed during the war operation between terrorists and foreign troops in Uruzgan and Farhad Taqadusi who was killed in his office as a result of rocket attack during the year.
He noted that during the 2010 58 instances of violence had taken pleas against reporters in Afghanistan and 2011 it had increased to 80 showing considerable increase.

Kabul (BNA) A number of the independent human rights commission members in a meeting with President Hamid Karzai asked for evaluating the ten years works of the commission and providing it with independent finance from the national budget so that to be protected from meddling of the foreigners, a presidential press statement office said.
Abdul Satar Saadat told at the meeting which was held at the presidential palace that he is not only opposing continuation of the work of the four members of the civil and human rights commission whose work period had been ended, but he asks for replacement of the entire commission members whose work time had been concluded, the statement quoted.
He said earlier the budget for the commission was not independent as it was sponsored by the foreigners-a problem prevented them to disclose the foreigner’s violations and raise their voice in this respect.
Meanwhile, Hosay Wardak also supported the decision but added those who are being replaced with the members of the independent human rights commission should respect human rights, be professional and not linked to any party.
Also, Aziz Rafi told the meeting that a mechanism should be established based on, those who are being assigned as the members for the commission should be aware of their responsibility as the commission is national establishment and shouldn’t become the victim of other’s interferences.
President Hamid Karzai called the entire presentations as wisely and added that the independent human rights commission was a national and important establishment that had faced ups and downs over the last ten years like other governmental establishments.
However assigning the members of the commission is my authority but I believe on the principal of consultation, so I want to take counsel with you in this respect and assign the members after you introduced the eligible candidates” the statement quoted President Karzai as saying adding that the budget of the commission would also be provided from the national budget so that to be protected from the foreigners negative interferences.

Afghan-Iran Sign Petroleum Pact

Kabul (BNA) The Iranian ministry of petroleum and the ministry of ecommerce and industries of Afghanistan by signing of this agreement committed themselves to export one million tons of petroleum products annually to Afghanistan. 
The products include petroleum, gas, fuel for aircrafts and benzene. 
The agreement was signed by Ali Reza Zaiefi Director of National Company of Palaiesh and Promotion of Petroleum Products of Iran and Anwarul Haq Ahadi Minister of Commerce and Industries of Afghanistan. 
Zaiefi said that around 60% to 70% of the agreement is petroleum and gas, and 25 to 30% Benzene and 10% is aircrafts fuel and its prices are specified on the basis of international markets. 
He added that considering the domestic needs of these products, surplus products will be exported and we hope that from the start of the coming year with completion of refineries in Iran export of such products would increase. 
He stressed that we exported petroleum products to Afghanistan in the past as well however, export of Benzene and fuel for aircrafts would start as of the coming year.

Kabul (BNA) Second Vice-President, Mohammad Karim Khalili met with the cultural advisor of President of Iran who is visiting Afghanistan at the head of a delegation of that country. 
At the meeting during which Abdul Hamid Nabizada head of the national library of Iran and Sakhi Munir head of the national archive of the country were present, Dr. Ishaq Salahi head of the documents and national library of Iran, talked on the importance of reconstruction of cultural centers, preparedness of his country to assist the government of Afghanistan in equipping of public library and national achieve of Afghanistan in digital systems. 
He added that Afghanistan possesses cultural riches and the public library and national achieve are some of the richest cultural centers in the region. 
He stressed that equipping of those cultural centers can better introduce the culture and civilization of this country to the world. 
He also promised that Iran will cooperate with Afghanistan in construction of the Afghan public library. 
Khalili in the meeting appreciating the cooperation of Iran called reconstruction of the cultural centers of Afghanistan an important priority of Afghanistan. 
He added that Afghanistan is an important cultural and historical zone at the world level and the riches of this zone not only belong to the present but future generation and these need to be equipped with the modern systems. 
Khalili asked the head of the national archive and public library so by using this cooperation of prepares specific programs for equipping, development and modernizing of those centers so that the interested people make utmost use of richness of them.

National Income Increases To Afs 15b

Kabul (BNA) The national income compared to 9 months of last year has increased to Afs 15 billion, said Aziz Shams a spokesperson of finance ministry. 
He added that the income for the nine months shows Afs 71.4 billion Compared to the same period of last year which was Afs 57.7 billion. 
The income is derived from custom taxes, income taxes received from the government ministries and departments. 
He attributed the increase to the implementation of laws, amendment in some sections of laws, created facilities, system of internet in custom houses, transparency, struggle against corruption, upgrading of working capacities in the government departments and realization of the government ranks system.
