Kabul (BNA) A mother and child care hospital was inaugurated in eastern Nangarhar province.
The 50-bed hospital had been built in relevant areas of Ghani Khail district, Jalalabad-Torkham highway by financial support of Germany with a sum of 39 million Afghanis.
An in-charge in public health department of Nangarhar told BNA reporter, by inauguration of the hospital mortality of mothers and children would be decreased in the area.
Before that pregnant women were forced to pass a long distance to reach in a medical center, the source added.
The hospital is equipped with advanced medical tools and treating 50 patients in a time.

Kunduz City (BNA) First round of spring polio vaccination campaign kicked off in northern Kunduz province the other day.
Dr. Mohammad Nabi Azim deputy of public health department in Kunduz told BNA reporter, in this round 400,000 children under the age of 5 years to be vaccinated in center and districts of the province.
Abdul Jabbar Naimi governor of Kunduz in beginning ceremony of the program said, for better implementation of polio vaccination in different parts of Kunduz province, everyone have responsibility to cooperate with health employees.

Herat City (BNA) Campaign of anti-polio vaccination program has started in western Herat province yesterday.
It is supposed that about 700,000 children to be received drops of anti-polio vaccine and 500,000 children over 6 months would be received vitamin A capsules in this round.
Mohammad Asef Rahimi governor of Herat in beginning ceremony of the program has announced that case of polio didn’t shows within the last one year in Herat province.
Dr. Noor Ahmad Haidari member of provincial council of Herat demanded from people to cooperate with health teams for better implementation of the program.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Asef Kabir deputy for public health department of Herat esteemed the efforts and preparations of the districts’ officials regarding implementation of anti-polio vaccine.
Health officials appreciated cooperation of district governors of the province, particularly Abdul Ghani Noorzai district governor of Zerkoh district.
Polio is eradicated in most countries but seen in remote parts of Afghanistan, Pakistan and Nigeria due to lack of access to healthcare facilities as well as weather irregularities.

Kabul (BNA) Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan Hospital, which is one of the country’s top hospitals, has been able to execute more than 2,000 operations in various sections in particular orthopedic.
In an interview with The Kabul Times correspondent, the hospital’s orthopedic and surgery services chief Col. Nek Mohammad Shinwari said: “Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan hospital’s orthopedic service has been able to have unprecedented activities towards addressing ANDSF personnel and their families.
The hospital is one of the country’s top military and standard hospitals where 40 and 50 operations are executed daily as we have the best and professional doctors in various orthopedic, neuro-surgery, urology and other sections. Most of operations that are executed daily in the hospital are unprecedented in the region as execution of any operations is possible at this hospital.”
He added that most of patients who were hospitalized at the hospital were the ANDSF personnel who had been sustained injuries in battlefield.
“ANDSF injured personnel need further and enduring treatment as our professional doctors who are well-experienced and well-qualified and are able to conduct very difficult orthopedic operations, which is unprecedented in the level of the region,” said Shinwari, adding that procedures that are followed on patients are finalized with all possibilities of the hospital and then patients are hospitalized for further treatment.
Regarding to operations in the hospital’s orthopedic service, Col. Shinwari said, “Most of patients who refer to our hospital have the most severe fractures of their body members and are fortunately cured at the orthopedic service which is one of the well-equipped session of the hospital.”
He added that all services were delivered to ANDSF injured personnel and their families at Sardar Mohammad Daud hospital.
Meanwhile, a number of ANDSF officers and soldiers who have been injured in various parts of the country and are now hospitalized at the hospital are happy of all services provided by the hospital.
“Doctors at this hospital are working day and night and have particular attention to treatment of the ANDSF injured personnel and their families and I’ve seen their daily work since I was brought here for further treatment,” said Lt. Mohammad Daud, an ANA Special Forces officer who has been injured in battlefield in Helmand.
Answering a question whether he returns his duty after full recovery, the ANA officer said, “Yes, I’ll go back to my duty as I am a military officer and very interested in my profession and would like to join my colleagues and work shoulder to shoulder with them to maintain better security for my people in the country.”
Mohammad Hamayoun, who visited his cousin at the hospital, said: “I am very happy that my cousin is being cured by professional doctors at this hospital.”
It is worth mentioning that Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan National Military Hospitalis a military hospital located in Kabul. With 400 beds, it is largest military medical facility in Afghanistan, and serves members of the Afghan National Army and other members of the Afghan law enforcement community, and also contains a teaching department. Established in 1973 by the Soviets, it is now described as the “crown jewel” of the Afghan healthcare industry.

Jalalabad (BNA) An attempt was made to prevent the sales of law-quality and expired foods and medicines in Jalalabad city the other day, BNA reported.
Health officials of Nangarhar say, so far our survey teams succeeded to collect dozen tons of poor quality and expired foods and medicines from city’s stores.
According to BNA, several stores have been punished and closed during the survey.
A directorate of public health official of the province told BNA, we try to prevent imports and sales of poor quality foods and medicines in the province.
He warned stores owners, whenever they sold poor quality foods and medicines, they will be introduced to judicial organs.

Mazar-e-Sharif (BNA) The construction work of a 50 bed and a 30 bed hospital started in Balkh and Charboldak Districts of Balkh province.
Dr. Mirwais Rabei public head of Balkh told BNA correspondent, the 50 bed hospital in Balkh and the 30 bed hospital in Charboldak District will construct at the cost of 1350,000 dollar from budget of public health ministry.
He added till end of this week, 10 other health projects will be inaugurated in five Districts of that province.
He said, residents of Balkh province have been receiving better health care services for more than a decade and this department is trying to provide better services for patients.

Kabul (BNA) To decline diarrhea disease among the children under one-year-old, the ministry of public health introduced rotavirus vaccine for the first time in the country, Bakhtar News Agency (BNA) reported.
Rotavirus annually takes the lives of almost 500,000 children worldwide and after applying rotavirus vaccine, the mortality rate among the children would decrease, the agency further said.
In a ceremony held on this occasion, the minister of public health, Dr. Firuzuddin Firuz said rotavirus vaccine as the 13th vaccine against diarrhea would be included of Vaccination National Program from Dalw 7 (January 27) on, BNA added. The vaccine has already been distributed in all provinces throughout the country, and it would be applied on children under one-year-old, the agency continued.
It is estimated that more than 45 percent of all diarrhea-related hospitalizations in Afghanistan are due to rotavirus the leading, deadliest form of severe diarrheal disease and Afghanistan is one of just ten countries that account for almost two-thirds of all rotavirus deaths worldwide.
