Kabul (BNA) President Hamid Karzai responded to a question in yesterday’s press conference on the issue of the recall of foreign mentors from Afghan government institutions following the shooting to death of two American officers in the Ministry of Interior.
The President answered in Dari Language, but was misquoted on some international media reports.
Following is the translation of the President’s response to the question:

President Karzai: With great sadness, we learnt yesterday that two American advisors were unfortunately shot to death in the Interior Ministry.
It is not yet clearly known as to who has committed this and where he was from, whether Afghan or foreigner or any other element involved, so we cannot make any comments at this point.
We deeply regret their death and express our condolences to their families.
Follow up question: (And on the recall of their mentors from the ministries?)
That is a temporary measure. In  situations like  the  burring  of  the  Holy  Quran, Afghan  people  show  sentiments,  if  this  was  the  reason  for  the  recall, it  is  rationale  and  if  there  are other  security  reasons  involved,  it  is  then  up  to  them  and  we  do  not  disagree  on  that.
Larger, once the issue (burning of Quran) is determined through proper investigation and once it is established on whom responsible for the crime, the (recall) issue would be resettled.
