Kabul (BNA) President Karzai met with Guido Westerwelle, German Foreign Minister to discuss issues of mutual interest.
The two sides first spoke about the President’s recent trip to China and Afghanistan’s participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Summit.
German Foreign Minister congratulated President Karzai on the successful convention of the Heart of Asia Ministerial Conference in Kabul and Afghanistan's membership as observer in the SCO.
Describing his recent trip to China as fruitful, the President said that countries in the region, particularly Russia and China declared their support from the strategic partnerships that Afghanistan forged with some countries across the globe.
President Karzai expressed gratitude for Germany’s continued cooperation and assistance in various fields, especially the commitment of 150 million Euros to help Afghanistan strengthen its security forces in Afghanistan.
The President underscored that the Afghan government would focus on good governance and elimination of corruption in the next two years.
Both sides exchanged views on Pakistan’s cooperation in combating terrorism and radicalism and its role in the peace process of Afghanistan.
Westerwelle said that Germany would remain committed to continue their cooperation with Afghanistan.
