DAFA Head Calls On VP Danesh

Kabul (BNA) Head of French Archeology Delegation (DAFA) on Tuesday met with the country’s Second Vice-President Mohammad Sarwar Danesh, presenting report about its activities, including publishing of two books, a statement said.
According to the statement, Danesh thanked head of the delegation for their continued works in Afghanistan as well as thanked him for granting the two published books, said the statement.
Danesh also thanked the French government cooperation with Afghanistan and the archeology team’s activities significant in the country and hoped the team’s works with hundred years of background should jointly be appreciated in Afghanistan.
The vice-president also asked the team for providing a general map to be used during development projects’ execution to help protect ancient monuments, said the statement.
He also asked the DAFA for help to construct the Buddha Giant statues and said there was a need for beefing up capacity of the archeology department, and in general, staff of the ministry of information and culture.
Head of the delegation said his led team has launched capacity building activities in some provinces of Afghanistan, including Mazar-e-Sharif, Herat, Kabul and Bamyan and a small library housing French language teaching course in the ancient Bamyan city and in addition some students would be sent for higher education to France. “The collection of the French team activities in Afghanistan have been published within 36 books, expected to be translated into the official language of Afghanistan,” said the statement.
