NUG Leaders Meet Uzbekistan Deputy PM, Finance Minister

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met Uzbekistan deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Kuchkarov and finance minister who came to Kabul in an official visit, the presidential palace said in a statement on Saturday.
According to the statement, the president expressed condolences to Uzbekistan government and people over a burning-bus incident, carrying Uzbek citizens.
Thanking the president for his condolences, Uzbekistani deputy PM called their visit to Afghanistan historic on bolstering cooperation, the statement added.
He said their visit to Afghanistan aimed to hold meetings with the government’s high-ranking officials and to further seek cooperation grounds between the two countries, the statement continued.
He said practical steps on implementation of agreements have been taken and efforts are underway to further pave the ground for joint cooperation between the two sides.
Thanking the president for his efforts and attention on infrastructural projects, he said discussions on sponsoring Mazar-e-Sharif-Herat railway were underway, adding the evaluations indicate that the mentioned project would be implemented with lower length and cost.
He said the railway would play key role for Afghanistan, Uzbekistan and regional countries, the statement added.
Expressing optimism on expansion of cooperation between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan, President Ghani called implementation of infrastructural projects effective to change life condition and ensure welfare.
On holding scientific conferences on Abu Rayhan Al-Biruni and Gowhar Shad Begom, the president said both sides’ teams are jointly working on it.
Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah also met with Uzbekistan delegation, during which he stressed on bolstering relations particularly in the fields of economy and culture.
He said Uzbekistan had good experiences in building of standard railway and could play significant role in creation of a big economic change in Afghanistan.
