Kabul (BNA)  President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani in a meeting with different segments of western part of the capital Kabul, including Ulema and youth has ordered Kabul’s division into four security zones, seeking details of a weapons distribution plan, Presidential Palace statement said on Saturday.
This comes as on last Wednesday, twenty-six people were martyred, and 91 others wounded in twin suicide attacks on a sports club in Dasht-e-Barchi of the capital.
During the meeting, Kabul garrison commander Murad Ali Murad said a proper security plan had been devised to maintain security during Muharram-ul-Haram.
President Ghani said it should be clear that Afghanistan was facing a conspiracy and a long-term threat.  A string of brutal attacks in Kabul had proved that, the president added.
He said joint committees involving security personnel and members of the general public would be formed on the basis of people’s suggestion.
A clear monitoring mechanism will be set up at the leadership level.
In response to the suggestion about temporary distribution of arms to mosques and religious places, he directed the relevant authorities to explore ways of doing so and prevent public disturbance.
