Afghan-Pak Track-II Dialogue Backs Bilateral Engagement

Kabul (BNA) Participants of the Afghanistan Pakistan Track-II dialogue have supported parliamentary elections in the country, set for October this year.
The support was promised in a declaration issued at the end of the three-day dialogue, attended by officials from the two countries and journalists, in Islamabad on Saturday.
“We recommended that Pakistani media channels should be issued visas to travel to Afghanistan for coverage of Afghan parliamentary elections in October 2018,” the declaration said.
While stressing bilateral engagement to facilitate peace and security, the declaration urged effective operationalization of the Afghanistan Pakistan Action Plan for Peace and Solidarity (APAPPS).
The participants called for focus on the humanitarian dimension of the bilateral relationship to end violence for the dignified return of Afghan refugees to their homeland.
Kabul and Islamabad were asked to overcome hurdles to trade by expanding economic links and trade cooperation.
The delegation from Afghanistan included Adviser to the Office of Chief Executive Officer on Trade Mozammil Shinwari, Member of Parliament Khalid Pashtoon, former minister of rural rehabilitation and development Jarullah Mansoori, former deputy minister of state for parliamentary affairs Sayed Qutbuddin Roydar, former Nangarhar governor Saleem Khan Kunduzi, Representative to Chief Executive Faridoon Sikander, Pakistan Afghanistan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industries (PAJCCI) Vice President Mohammad Younus Mohmand and senior journalist from National TV of Afghanistan Aneesur Rahman Shinwari.
Meanwhile Members from Pakistan included Senator Sherry Rehman, MNA Shazia Marri, Federal Tax Ombudsman Dr Shoaib Suddle, Lt Gen® Asif Yasin Malik, former ambassador Mohammad Sadiq, former ambassador Seema Ilahi Baloch, former ambassador Mian Sanaullah, Pakistan-Afghanistan joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PAJCCI) Executive Director Secretary General Faiza and journalists, including Zahid Hussain, Muhammad Tahir Khan, Rehman Azhar and Hasan Khan.
