Peace Consultative Loya Jirga Offers Roadmap to Govt., President Ghani

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met with US special envoy on Afghan peace Zalmay Khalilzad at the presidential palace on Wednesday.
According to BNA report, during the meeting a number of politicians, political parties’ representatives, ulama, civil society members, youth, women, private sector representatives, lawmakers and a number of high-ranking government officials were present. Welcoming and thanking Dr. Zalmay Khalilzad, the President said that Peace Consultative Jirga has offered roadmap to the government that will be practiced step-by-step. The President added there is coordination between the Afghan and US governments on peace process and mutual delivering information is principally existed. The President pointed out that the government is working on practical plans aim to establish regional consensus. He added our common objective is to reach lasting peace. President Ghani said that holding election was a must, because, nation’s will cannot be acted without that. Afterwards, thanking the President’s leadership, Dr. Khalilzad said the regional consensus has already been created on Afghan peace talks, adding peace process needs coordination and attunement. He added we are now entering a new stage and regional countries can play key role in this respect. At the end, thanking the participants for their active part, the President said that the international community has reached a consensus that it should not think short-term on Afghanistan, but mid-term and long term.
