Dr. Abdullah Attends CICA Summit in Tajikistan

Kabul (BNA) Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah left Kabul for Dushanbe to attend the 5th summit of heads of states and governments on Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) 1019.
Addressing the fifth summit of CICA, Chief Executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah on Saturday reiterated call on countries to deny safe haven to terrorists and tools that they use for their activities.
Dr. Abdullah said countries should increase cooperation, as “no country by itself alone could solve the problem of terrorism.”  He also added that Afghanistan is “thirsty for peace” and that it will make efforts to achieve peace.
Dr. Abdullah went on saying that peace in Afghanistan would benefit also the region, thanking countries who took initiatives on Afghan peace efforts, hoping cooperation in this regard will increase.
“We cannot leave one another alone in the fight against regional terrorism and increasing threat of terrorist groups such as Daesh in the region,” Dr. Abdullah said.  Member states of CICA include Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, Egypt, India, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Palestine, Qatar, Republic of Korea, Russian Federation, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan an Vietnam.
CICA membership covers about 90 percent of the territory and population of Asia.  It has another 8 states and 5 international organizations, including the UN, with observer status.
