President Ghani Seeks Turkish Investments in Afghanistan

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani met Nail Olpak, Turkey’s head of Foreign Economic Relations Board and the country’s trade union chairperson here on the sidelines of Heart of Asia – Istanbul Process on Sunday, a presidential press office statement said yesterday.
Hinting to friendly and bilateral ties between the two countries, President Ghani said Afghanistan was keen to utilize Turkey’s experiences in implementation of development projects and designing of the water dams, adding the cooperation would help implement the projects with low cost, but with better quality, according to the statement.
Briefing investment opportunities in areas of mining, electricity, transit and regional connectivity, the president asked Turkey’s investors to implement projects in Afghanistan, saying investments on railroads and regional connectivity would help improve commercial ties between the two countries and the region, the statement added.
Welcoming the Afghan president, Turkish head of foreign economic relations said was ready to invest in areas of mining, electricity, transit and regional connectivity and would persuade the traders and investors to utilize such opportunities in Afghanistan, the presidential statement quoted him as saying.
