VP Danesh meets Afghan Migrants, Traders in Islamabad

Kabul (BNA) Second Vice President Mohammad Sarwar Danesh, who attended an international conference on Afghan refugees in Pakistan, has met with a number of Afghan migrants and traders in the neighboring country, a statement from the VP press office told The Kabul Times daily yesterday.
The representatives of Afghan refugees and traders briefed the VP on their problems, asking him to address their issue, including issuing of visa for Afghan students, extension of residents permission to refugees, operation of Afghan schools in Pakistan, application of increasing taxation on traders by the Pakistani government and improving the bilateral trade ties.
While thanking Pakistan for hosting Afghan migrant despite of their economic difficulties, the second VP called on the immigrants to be grateful to them along with their migration problems.
“Three ominous phenomena of war, migration and poverty have shadowed our l collective lives, but we hope that with the new developments in the country's peace process and the reduction of violence, could see these three phenomena eradicated and our migrants return back home and continue living a dignified life,” VP Danesh added, as quoted in the statement.
The vice president also said that the economic capital and knowledge of migrants was important for the reconstruction of Afghanistan, adding that the Afghan government was working to provide the necessary facilities to solve the problems of Afghan migrants.
Citing the problems of the Afghan people and government and the pressure that the opposition was putting on the Afghan government, the second VP said will work to resolve the problems of migrants through the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Refugees and Repatriates, Education, Higher Education and Commerce. “Our migrated compatriots have a serious role to play in solving their country's problems.”
