President Ghani Reiterates Govt.’s Support for Entrepreneurs

Kabul (BNA) President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani presided over a meeting yesterday morning and discussed efforts and approaches to strengthen new and small scale business initiatives.
President Ghani received Da Afghanistan Bank’s plan, articulated by DAB Governor Ajmal Ahmadi, which is believed to address the challenges faced by small businesses and entrepreneurs, particularly their financial changes and structural reforms.
Ajmal Ahmady said spread of covid-19 incurred financial losses to majority of newly-established business plagued them into challenges.
He added the government has put certain plans in place to address their challenges through establishment of trust fund, developing mechanisms to exempt them from tax or penalties and enhancing coordination among the private sector.
President Ashraf Ghani lauded the private sector for remaining in full swing during the spread of corona and the lockdown which prevent shortage of essential items.
President Ghani attached importance to defining rule of the game to result in proper management of the trust fund and to prevent future financial tragedies and challenges.
The president instructed the Ministry of Finance to present a clear plan on tax and penalty exemption and waiving the rent of state-owned properties used by businesses at the forthcoming HEC meeting to help the government make clear decisions. He added the government will discuss with all guilds and receive their recommendations, demands and challenges, stressing the government has put measures in place to empower entrepreneurs and strengthen small and new businesses initiatives.
