President Karzai: I hope, This New Year Be blessed with Peace, security and Progress for Afghanistan -Our Beloved Country

Thursday, March 21, 2013

Kabul (BNA) On his bi-weekly radio address, President Hamid Karzai congratulated all Afghan citizens on the occasion of 1392 new year and Nowruz,  hoping that this new year be blessed with peace, security and progress for Afghanistan- their beloved country and a fruitful year for all the people of Afghanistan.

As Afghan new educational year is starting by the New Year, the President therefore encouraged students to make capital use of every single moment for education, respect and obey their parents, follow good manners and to free themselves, their families and their beloved country from foreign dependence.

President Karzai underscored that Afghanistan could achieve its long-standing desire of being a leading state on the world’s pathway towards progress, only by power of its youth’s education.

The President also addressed the Taliban, “On this day of happiness and pleasure that our people start New Year, I once again call on Taliban as brothers- those Taliban who are Muslims and who consider themselves nationals of this soil, Taliban brothers! Lay down foreigners’ arms from your shoulders used for foreign interests, come to your beloved motherland and home and join hands with your fellow countrymen for progress and development of your country and for strengthening Islam and Afghanhood so that our country be relieved from foreign dependence.”

President Karzai urged the Taliban to renounce murdering civilians by laying down weapons and joining the peace process and to avoid unfairly inflicting losses upon elders, widows, sons, youth and children of Afghanistan in their assaults, and urged them not to target young Afghans who in lieu of low pays have stood up to protect their country on a daily basis, adding that targeting Afghan soldiers, police and national security officers is same as targeting efforts made for reinforcing of this soil.
