Salang Highway Is Open

Kabul (BNA) In spite of snowing in Salangha, the two sides way of Salang is open to the Traffic. 
General Rajab head of preservation of Salangha said to BNA, snow in southern of Salang reached to 50 cm and in the north of Salang which has storm reached to 25 cm. 
General Rajab asked all drivers of vehicles to go on according to the direction of officials of that Dept. and equip their vehicles with winter equipments while passing the Salangha highway.  Translated by Suraya-Yarzada

Charikar (BNA) Snowfall closed transportation ways of Shinwari district to center of Parwan province last night. 
Saifullah Bedar governor of Shinwari district said to BNA, snowfall started last night in the center and vicinities of Parwan province that still continues and closed transportation ways of six villages to Shinwari district. 
He asked the government and foreign institutions to cooperate for reopening of the ways of villages.

Asadabad (BNA) Costing $500,000 a new building to be built for agriculture faculty of Sayed Jamaluddin University by Counter Narcotics Ministry. 
The Rector of Sayed Jamaluddin Afghan University of Kunar Mir Ahmad Hamid said that the building would have 30 classrooms and other facilities.
Kunar governor, Sayed Fazlullah Wahedi during inaugural ceremony said that the building is funded through counter narcotics ministry for the purpose of elimination of poppy cultivation in this province. 
It is mentionable that one week back, the work of construction of education faculty of this university was also begun.

Kabul (BNA) Around 50 Afghan refugees in Germany due to had living conditions and non-complying to their migration applications has started hunger strike for over a week. 
The refugees who are under the age of 18 are living in a military base in Uber Bayern. 
It is said that they have no calm and proper living premises and they have no access to German language courses. 
They have applied for providing them with migration permit but the German authorities are not addressing their application as well. 
It is said that the number of Afghan refugees in Germany have increased and in 11 months of the 2011 around 7299 Afghans have sought asylum permit in Germany. 
The refugees are said to be smuggled to Germany through the human smugglers via Turkey and they attempt to reach Europe by accepting all possible threat to their lives.

Fuel Prices Down, Gold Up In Kabul

Kabul (BNA) Fuel prices edged down, gold went up, but the rates of essential daily-use items stayed stable during the outgoing week in Kabul, dealers said. 
One liter of diesel cost 65 Afghanis and the same amount of petrol 59 Afghanis, against their last week’s rates of 70 Afs and 62Afs respectively, said Faqir Mohammad, who works at a filling station in the Qalacha area. 
Abdul Baseer, a jeweler in the Lecce-i-Maryam neighborhoods, said the rate of one gram of Arabian gold increased from 2,100 Afs to 2,200 Afs and the same amount of Iranian variety from 1,750 Afs to 1,800 Afs. 
He linked the increase to international market trends. 
However, the prices of daily-use items remained unchanged. 
A 50 kg sack of rice stayed stable at 2,500 Afs, a 5-Kg tin of Spin Ghar ghee at 420 Afs, a kilo of African black tea at 190 Afs and the same amount of Indonesian green tea at 160 Afs. 
Food Traders Union head, Hajji Fazl Rahman said the rate of a 50-kg sack of Pakistani flour worked out at 1,040 Afs and the same amount of Brazilian sugar at 2,160 Afs, the same rates as last week.

Muslimyar Meets With NATO Civil Envoy

Kabul (BNA) Senate Chief Fazle Hadi Muslimyar met with the NATO Civil Envoy and discussed with him transition of security to the Afghan forces and the process of talks with the Taliban. 
At the meeting the NATO Civil Envoy said that the combat ability of the national army and the police has been upgraded and now they have the power to carry on operations. 
He added that at the second Bonn conference the international community had some commitments that parallel with the transition of security responsibility, attention should be paid towards upholding of infrastructure projects so that work is created for the people. 
Senate chief expressed the hope that the international community’s commitments would be practically implemented. 
Muslimyar in the meeting strongly condemned the insult by the US soldiers of Afghan soldier’s bodies and called it as an abuse towards human society and added that such actions will create gap between the present order and foreign soldiers. 
The NATO envoy also condemned this act and said that those who did this have been verified and they will be tried very soon. 
The NATO envoy also said that many talks have been made between the Taliban and the US but it is important that this process is only possible through the Afghans.

High Commission On Investment Meets

Kabul, (BNA) The high investment committee held its meeting chaired by Dr. Anwarul Haq Ahadi Minister of commerce and industries. 
At the meeting the plant for armored vehicles montage and repairing with the investment of USD ten million was discussed. 
The meeting also discussed issues pertaining application of Balkh industrialists, iodine producing salt plant, soya bean plant and the Guri Mar industrial park in the province. 
The meeting also confirmed and adopted the capital investment of USD 4.5 million for the industrial park of Kandahar and building of Ice cream and fruit conserving as well building of cold storages there.

Kabul (BNA) Acting minister of information and culture Ghulam Nabi Farahi chaired the commission for preparing seminar on “Kunar in the course of history”. 
The meeting was attended by some scholars and researchers and it has selected the chairman and the date of the seminar. 
The meeting participants also discussed articles for the seminar and viewed that the articles should take into account the history, culture, political and social aspects of the Kunar province. 
Farahi called holding of such seminars as very important in introduction of the culture, history and literature of different parts of the country and expressed hope that the seminar would bring positive outcomes.

Khas Uruzgan Dignitaries Meet Khalili

Kabul (BNA) According to presidential press office report, during this meeting, they asked the government leadership to focus its attention toward maintenance of security and solving of regional disputes and for this purpose, benefit from tribal posts. 
They evaluate worthy unity, fraternity and peaceful life among regional people and hoped the government should adopt measures to prevent insecurity in the region. 
They also asked that in this district the development projects be implemented and so far, no necessary measures have been adopted in this connection by local and central organs. 
Second Vice president, Mohmmad Karim Khalili expressed his happiness for meeting with them and evaluated that investigation to their proposals and requirements is the government duty. 
Khalili evaluated important participation of people in maintenance of security and performing of rehabilitation programs and laid emphasize on fraternity and brotherhood among them.
