Kabul (BNA) Afghan troops waged an anti-drug operation and destroyed a large amount of narcotics together with a heroin factory in southern Helmand province earlier this month, the command of Afghan Special Forces said on Tuesday.
“Afghan National Security and Defense Forces and Counter-Narcotics Police of Afghanistan carried out a special operation in Naw Zad district, Helmand province, destroying over 20,000 liters of liquid opium, 1,090 kg of morphine and more than 15,170 kg of ammonium chloride,” it said in a statement posted in its official Facebook account.

Kabul (BNA) As many as 16 Taliban rebels have been killed and nine others wounded in an airstrike conducted by Afghan forces in Nad Ali district of southern Helmand province, an official said the other day.
Col. Mohammad Rasoul Zazai, spokesman for 215th Maiwand military corps, told that the Afghan air force has targeted a group of Taliban who were planning to launch attacks against security forces. Zazai added, “16 militants were killed and nine others wounded and many weapons as well as ammunition were destroyed during the airstrike.”
Moreover, Zazai claimed that four Taliban militants have been killed in a separate operation in Sangin district of Helmand. The Taliban insurgent groups have not commented into the matter yet.

Kabul (BNA) Ministry of Defense (MoD) has dismissed nearly 1,400 of its officials over alleged corruption over the past year, a high-ranking ministry official says.
Deputy Defense Minister, Hilaluddin Hilal told reporters in Kabul on March 28 that the ministry has taken significant steps to tackle widespread corruption, dismissing 1,394 officials in graft-related cases. More than 300 officials accused of corruption have been brought to justice, Hilal said. The ministry is currently reviewing more than 1,800 allegations of corruption in the country’s defense structures, Hilal said, adding that nearly 170 cases have been referred to law-enforcement agencies. The deputy minister said the cases include suspected abuse of office and illegal weapons sales. Hilal’s statement comes just a day after the ministry announced that a senior Afghan general was arrested on charges of corruption and misuse of power.

Sheberghan (BNA) A Daesh leader was killed in Darzab district, Jawzjan province last night.
Colonel Rahmatullah Turkistani police chief of Jawzjan province told BNA, Daesh affiliates attacked on police checkpoint in Khwaja Ashkara village, Darzab district, in which Najibullah a leader of Daesh fighter was killed and one other was injured.
He added no harm and losses incurred to local police forces in the conflict.

Paroon (BNA) 12 armed Taliban militants including two local commanders of them were killed and at least six others including two Pakistani nationals were injured during conflicts by security forces in Nooristan province.
The Taliban were targeted by security forces in suburb of Paroon city capital of Nooristan province while planting mine on a road.
A senior commander of border police in the east of the country told BNA, in the clashes, 12 armed insurgents including two local commanders killed and six others including three Pakistani national were injured.
Another report says that three arms caches of Taliban were discovered in Nooristan province.
The caches were kept in Kamdish and Barg-e-Matal districts.

Maimana (BNA) Eight armed insurgents were killed and at least 12 others were injured in recent conflicts in Faryab province.
The clashes occurred in Ghormach and Almar districts last night.
First conflict occurred in Ghormach district while security forces stormed on Taliban motorcyclists.
Local police commander of Faryab province told BNA, in the clash, five armed Taliban lost their lives and two others were injured.
It is mentionable that no harm and losses sustained to security forces and residents in the conflict.
Another conflict took place in Faryab province, in which three armed insurgents were killed and 10 others were injured.
The clash occurred in Almar district while a group of Taliban were faced with ambush of security forces.
Meanwhile, the security forces prevented from three blasts in Faryab province.
According to reports, security troops succeeded to discover three mines from highways of that province and prevented from bloody events.

Trenkot (BNA) The security forces prevented from a series of blasts in Urozgan province.
With cooperation of residents security forces managed to discover and defused five bombs from crowded areas of that province.
An ANA commander in the south of the country told BNA, Taliban wanted to organize a series of blasts in crowded areas of that province and to organize deadly events to civilians, but not succeeded to their evil goals.
Another report says that four weapons caches of Taliban were discovered in Urozgan province.
The caches were kept in Khas district of Urozgan province and suburb of Trenkot city capital of the province.
An ANA commander in the south of the country said that tens of heavy and light weapons of insurgents were seized from the caches.
It is said that Taliban escaped after military stormed on their bases.

Mehtarlam (BNA) Plot of Taliban for organizing of a series of Bomb planting failed in Mehtarlam city, capital of Laghman province.
Two attackers wanted to organize a series of bomb planting, while entering to Mewhtarlam city, were arrested by security forces.
Sarhadi Zwak spokesman for Laghman governor told BNA, the two assailants wanted to plant bombs in a crowded areas of Mehtarlam city.
According to Zwak, several mine and bombs were seized from the arrested terrorists.
The arrested terrorists in their first investigation acknowledged that they wanted to organize a series of bomb planting in the mentioned city.

Maidan-Shhr City (BNA) Azizullah a local commander of police in Maidan-Wardak province was gunned down by armed gunmen in Kabul city yesterday.
Naqibullah Amini spokesman of Maidan-Wardak police chief in a telephonic contact with BNA correspondent confirmed the assassination of the commander said, Azizullah worked as local police commander in Narkh district of the province.
During the last two years Taliban militants sustained heavy losses in Narkh district of the province and the commander had significant role.

Kabul (BNA) Seven anti-government militias were killed by NATO air attacks in eastern Paktika and Logar provinces.
Fazil Khuda Ibrahimkhail in-charge press office in 203 army corps told BNA, NATO air forces carried out the attacks on Taliban military centers in Guldankhail region, Zurmat district of Paktika and Setichek region of Logar province, as a result seven Taliban insurgents were killed.
Also some military equipment and ammunitions belonging the enemies have been destroyed during the raids, the source added.
