Kabul (BNA) Flying in under the cloak of darkness, Afghan National Security Forces, along with American soldiers, conducted recently an air assault into the mountains of the Nader Shah Kot district. 
The combined force searched for weapon caches and suspected insurgents living in three villages located in the northern part of the district. 
Navigating through Ankle-breaking terrain, troops with 3rd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division descended upon the first village at daybreak. 
Instead of anticipated hostility, Afghan villagers greeted them with welcoming smiles, tea and flatbread. 
Uniform Police and U.S troops discovered possible improvised explosive device-making material, along with small arms weapons in one of the houses. 
“The individual was one of the houses we were going to hit,” was reported.

Kabul (BNA) An Afghan official for the national security directorate in a news conference yesterday said a seven-man terrorist group that planned to attack on Traditional Loya Jirga Tent has been arrested. 
Briefing the reporters, Lutfullah Mashal, spokesman for Afghan national directorate of security said, “Holding the Traditional Loya Jirga was a big achievement to Afghan security forces, adding, the jirga completed its work without any incident. 
He said Afghan national security forces with cooperation of all Afghan forces were able to capture ten terrorist groups along with all equipments in Kabul and its surrounding provinces, which is unprecedented in the past ten years.” 
Mashal said the group had been sent by Haqqani network, Lashkar-e-Taiba and intelligence agencies of the regional countries to Afghanistan for sabotaging the Traditional Loya Jirga, but fortunately they didn’t succeed in carrying out the attacks during the work sessions of the jirga. 
Spokesman for NDS said the detainees have admitted their crimes and said they had taken preparations for two months to attack on the jirga when they were arrested by Afghan security forces before reaching to their targets. 
Mashal said the individuals were arrested and detained in the fifth and 8th districts of Kabul city, adding numerous weapons and ammunitions have been discovered and seized in various provinces as Nimroz and Kandahar. 
He said two people were also arrested in connection with the case. 
It is worth mentioning that a number of terrorist groups were also detained by Afghan security forces last week in various parts of the country.

Kabul (BNA) The security situation has been improved in Afghanistan. 
The NATO commander in Afghanistan John Allen said to Daily Recorder that comparing previous years, the security situation in Afghanistan is improved and support of Taliban by people has been reduced considerably. 
According to John Allen, positive changes have been occurred in national army. 
While the number of NATO soldiers has been reduced, but the number of Afghan soldiers are increasing. 
John Allen says that so far, the eastern parts of Afghanistan is threatening by Haqqani band who shelter in Pakistan soil and in next two years, attention would be focused to these regions.

Kunduz City (BNA) Five villages have been cleared from the presence of armed insurgents in Aliabad district of Kunduz province. 
According to General Mohammad Zaman Waziri, commander of 209 Shaheen corps, the operation which was launched ten days ago by Afghan and NATO forces in Aliabad district five villages have been freed from the presence of armed Taliban insurgents. 
The source said the insurgents couldn’t resist and escaped the area and now the people are living in full security.
