Kabul (BNA) The spokesman of the Taliban group Zabiullah Mujahid has been critically wounded during the operations in northern Faryab province of Afghanistan, the 209th Shaheen Corps of the Afghan national army said.
The commander of Shaheen Corps Gen. Amanullah Mubin confirmed that Mujahid has sustained critical injuries during the operations in Ghormach district.
He said the air and ground operations are still underway in Faryab and other northern and northeastern provinces.
The Taliban insurgents group has not commented regarding the report so far.
This is not the first time reports have emerged regarding the Taliban group spokesman suggesting his death, injury, or apprehension.
Few years earlier also reports emerged suggesting that Mujahid was arrested by the Afghan security forces.
The latest claims by Shaheen Corps officials came as the Taliban militants captured the control of Ghormach district few days earlier.

Aibak City (BNA) Based on a presidential decree 17 prisoners including four women have been released from northern Samangan jail the other day.
Col. Shah Agha Shadab director of Samangan prison told BNA reporter, the inmates were released based on a presidential decree issued on behalf of Eid-ul-Fitr.
At the present 270 prisoners including 24 women are in Samangan jail, Shadab added.

Firoz Koh City (BNA) Three Afghan citizens who were working in CRS (Foreign Organization) have martyred by unknown gunmen in western Ghor province.
Mohammad Iqbal Nazami police chief of Ghor told BNA correspondent, the employees were martyred by unidentified gunmen in Kabulak village, Firoz Koh city the provincial capital of the province.
In addition, two others staffs of the institute were wounded following the incident.
It is mentionable that the mentioned institute is active in the fields of education and water supply in different parts of the province, Nazami added.

Kabul (BNA) As many as 98 armed oppositions including their two local commanders were killed, 43 wounded and three others were arrested during joint military operation conducted by Afghan security personnel within the last 24 hours across the country.
Ministry of National Defense (MoND) press office issued BNA, the operations have launched with support of Afghan air and artillery forces to suppress anti-government militias and protect the lives and properties of people in insecure areas of Nangarhar, Kapisa, Paktia, Ghazni, Logar, Khost, Zabul, Kandahar, Urozgan, Badghis, Baghlan, Faryab, Sar-e-Pul, Badakhshan and Helmand provinces.
Sixteen motorcycles, 11 heavy and light weapons have been seized and 8 hideouts of the terrorist group have been destroyed during the operations, the source added.
Also within the last 24 hours, 18 special operations and 2 nightfall operations has conducted in 15 provinces and Afghan air forces launched 96 flights for supporting Afghan National Army forces, the source concluded.
