Pul-e-Khumri City (BNA) About 16 Afghan security forces have died following Taliban massive attack in northern Baghlan province last night.
According to reports, dozens Taliban fighters carried out attack on a security checkpoint in Jarkhoshk area, Pul-e-Khumri city the provincial capital of Baghlan province.
A security source in Baghlan that asked not to be named reported BNA, seven Afghan National Policemen and 9 Afghan National Army were martyred during the attack.
It has been said, Taliban militants sustained heavy losses, but the exact number of their victims is not clear.
Eyewitnesses said, Taliban militants stormed from several points on security shell and finally captured the checkpoint.
Some local sources called that, late arrival of reinforcement troops is the main reason behind the temporary fall of the checkpoint and sustaining casualties to Afghan security forces.
Now the security checkpoint is under the control of Afghan security troops.

Asadabad City (BNA) Five top members of Taliban terrorist group were killed following air attack in eastern Kunar province.
The terrorists were busy on organizing a series of destructive activities that targeted and killed in Pach Dara district of the province.
A senior commander of Afghan National Army in the east of the country told BNA correspondent, five top members of Taliban terrorist group were killed during the air attack.
Shadow district governor of Taliban for Daw Abad district of Nooristan province is among the dead, the source added.
The senior terrorists have been targeted by drone in Pach Dara district of Kunar province, the source concluded.

Jalalabad City (BNA) As many as 18 supporters of ISIS terrorist group killed during latest attacks carried out by Afghan Special Forces in vicinity of eastern Nangarhar province last night.
The terrorists have been targeted and killed in various parts of Haska Mena, Acheen and Khogyani districts of the province.
Senior commander of Afghan National Army in the east of the country told BNA correspondent, air and ground raids carried out by Afghan Special Forces in different parts of the mentioned districts, in which 18 ISIS adherents were killed and their several hideouts along with some military equipment have been destroyed too.
According to another report, Afghan security forces by discovering and confiscating six round of different type of mines succeeded to prevent from a series of blast in Nangarhar province.
Also during this period, a weapon storage belonging terrorist group have been seized by Afghan security troops in relevant areas of Jalalabad city the provincial capital of the province.
Several heavy and light weapons have been seized from the storage.
Local officials in the province claimed that ISIS members used the weapon storage in their terrorist and destructive activities.

Kabul (BNA) Dozens villages have been cleared from existence of Taliban militants during military operation launching by Afghan security forces across Jalalabad-Torkham highway.
A security commander of Afghan National Army in the east of the country reported BNA, since seven days the operation conducted across Jalalabad-Torkham highway that recently three weapon storages belonging Taliban militants have been discovered and seized and dozens villages have been clean-up from being of terrorists during the operation.
Military officials in the east of the country said, the operation will be continued until Jalalabad-Torkham highway cleared from existence of anti-government militias.
