Maulawi Abdul Raqib Takhari Victim of Peace Efforts, President Karzai

Kabul (BNA) President Hamid Karzai condemned the killing of Maulawi Abdul Raqib Takhari member of Tehrek Taliban and called him an open e victim of the path of peace.  Maulawi Abdul Raqib former minister of refugee affairs of Taliban government who has been supporter of peace and understanding in Afghanistan, after participating at the recent peace talks in Dubai led by Mullah Agha Jan Mutasim returned to Peshawar and he was killed there on Monday.
President Hamid Karzai while strongly condemning his killing, once again called all the members of the Tahrik-e-Taliban as brothers and urged them to return to their country and live in peaceful atmosphere inside the country, carry on peace talks with the High Peace Council, for no Afghan has full security outside the country, particularly those patriot Afghans who opting for peace and security in the country and work for this very purpose.
President Karzai also welcomed the efforts of Tahrek-e-Taliban led by Mullah Agha Jan Mutasem towards peace process and considers these efforts a good omen for the people of Afghanistan having fed up of war and the country is on the verge of traversing from the new political phase.
President Karzai expressed the hope that peaceful efforts succeed and he wishes that all the leaders of Taliban Tahrek take steps toward the peace process in the country so that peace can live in peace and calmness. President Karzai conveyed his deep sympathies to the family members of Maulawi Abdul Raqib Takhari whose body was transferred to the country yesterday and laid to rest with respect and wished peace for his soul and patience for his bereaved family members.
A High Peace Council HPC member believes killing of Abdul Raqib relates to his peace efforts, as Maulawi Mohammad Amin Weqad member of the High Peace Council regretting the killing of Maulawi Abdul Raqib said that there exist circles that are following up such political killings, urging the Taliban that considering the mysterious killing of their leaders, they should start peace talks. He believes that these types of killings in the process of start of peace talks can seriously harm the armed opposition especially the Taliban. Agha Jan Mutasem a former senior leader of Taliban leadership also condemned killing of Maulawi Abdul Raqib and urged the warring sides in Afghanistan to do away with opposition and take the path of peace. He believes that Maulawi Abdul Raqib enjoyed considerable influence among the Taliban leadership and his killing relates to his peace efforts.
