Poppy Cultivated Farms To Be Eliminated In Badakhshan

Faizabad (BNA) It is expected that poppy cultivated farms of over 1270 hectares in Badakhshan should be eliminated, asked Zarar Ahmad Muqbel Counter Narcotics Minister in his meeting with Shah Waliullah Adeeb Governor of Badakhshan, district governors and heads of provincial departments. 

The governor of Badakhshan asked Muqbel that in order to eliminate poppy there is need for equipping of police for struggle against narcotics and provision of improved wheat seeds and fertilizer for farmers. 

He also asked for deployment of security posts on the Afghan-Tajik borders and attention should be focused on improving roads. 

Other speakers included Shah Abdul Ahad Fazli member of the commission for narcotics and moral abuse of House of People and Zabihullah Ateeq head of the Badakhshan provincial council asking the government for building center for narcotic addicts in districts of the province.
