Kabul (BNA) Second vice-president Mohammad Karim Khalili chaired a meeting of national disaster committee in which difficulties and measures for addressing natural disaster affected people were discussed.
Present were one member of senate and houses of people. Initially Khalili expressed his regrets and sympathies to the victim families of recent floods who list their dear ones.
He said that three months earlier the committee had advised the people over probable occurrence of floods especially of those whose homes are on the course of the flood.
He instructed the related organs to adopt immediate measures for dispatching of necessary aid to the affected.
According to the data a result of recent floods 112 people have lost their lives and 41 others were wounded while 27 are missing.
He added that the residents of 20 provinces have been affected of the floods and necessary assistance has been rendered to them. At this session the ministry of health expressed its readiness for combating flood borne diseases at the country level.
The ministry of public works assured that only in three provinces of Nooristan, Takhar and Badakhshan some transportation regions have become closed.
The Kabul municipality assured of its efforts towards combating water rise in Kabul River. The meeting advised all the members of this committee to assist the affected by providing food and non-food aid.
The ministry of rehabilitation and rural development, public works, and other organs were instructed to work on rehabilitation of farmland, opening of streams, provision of health services. It was reiterated that the international foundations member of this committee should make its procedures easy and it was decided that for responding to the natural events, better coordination is organized among the government organs.

Pul-e-Khomri (BNA) Floods brought human and financial damages to Dahana Ghoori district of Baghlan province within three last days. 
Dr. Hamid Neyazi head of Red Crescent Society of Baghlan said to BNA, 7 people were lost their lives and 63 residential houses, 1500 Jirib of agricultural lands with two and half km road, 6 water dams and 11 mills were destroyed in heavy floods in that province. 
Neyazi said, foodstuffs with all other necessities have been provided by this Dept. to the damaged areas. 
It is said that heavy floods within three last days in Borka, Nahreen, Doshi and Tala-wa-Barfak districts brought damages that preliminary survey of the areas have been completed now.

Khost (BNA) Work for the construction of dam and two water canals in Garbaz district of southern Khost province began the other day, an official said. 
Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Wahid Patan the deputy governor to Khost province said with completion of the project the problems of hundreds of the families will be solved. 
With launching this project at a cost of 936,000 US dollars, funded by USAID, job opportunities will also be provided for more than 900 people, he further said.

Kabul (BNA) The personnel of firefighter department succeeded to extinction the fire which took place in an oil pump station in Kabul city today. 
BNA reporter reported, the personnel of fire Dept. with cooperation of army fire Dept. after two hours succeeded to bring under control the fire in Deh-Mazang oil pump station of Kabul city. 
Abdul Azeem Oryakhail, in charge of Kabul fire Dept. of police said the first investigation showed that the fire started in a tanker which was unloading oil to the pump station. 
It is said that the fuel was unloading by generator and due to carelessness it cased fire. 
According to Oryakhail, in this event, huge quantity of oil with a tanker and three vehicles were burned and serious damages inflected to the building of this pump station. This event took place this afternoon. 
Police investigate this event.
