Flood Affected People Need To Be Provided With Emergency Aid: Khalili

Kabul (BNA) Second vice-president Mohammad Karim Khalili chaired the meeting of national disaster preparedness committee, which discussed the readiness for delivering emergency assistance to the flood affected families in Kapisa, Paktika, Panjshir, Parwan, Bamyan, Laghman, Kandahar and Jaghuri, Malistan district and other districts of Ghazni province as a result of which a number of countrymen sustained human and material losses.
The meeting reiterated on delivering of food and non-food aid to the affected people of the recent floods.
Khalili considering rendering of assistance and addressing to the needs of the flood families as the religious and national mission of the government and stressed that all necessary aids should be immediately dispatched to all the flood affected families and no affected individual should remain without aid.
The minister of rehabilitation and rural development discussed about the flood affected people.
In Imam Sahib district of Kunduz and said that he along with the minister of agriculture and irrigation visited the affected area and the meeting proposed allocation of Afs. 30 million from the budget of the committee to be delivered to the budget of the minister of energy and water for digging of a canal and creation of ditches on the course of the river in Kunduz and it was stated that work on this scheme should be immediately stared.
The minister of refugees and returnees and deputy head of the secretariat of the committee took up the issue of the displaced families in Jawzjan due to rise of water in Jawzjan, Kunduz and Balkh and the meeting allocated 750 tons of wheat and rice for the three thousand displaced families in those provinces and the ministers of refugee and returnees, agriculture and irrigation and the general administration for disaster preparedness and the provincial councils were instructed to assist in distribution of the aid to the displaced families.
As per the proposal of the ministry of agriculture and irrigation 750 tons of wheat has been allocated for the three thousand farmers of Takhar, Kunduz and Baghlan who have been affected by the natural calamities and their melon products were spoiled and this should be distributed under the supervision of the agriculture and irrigation ministry.
The meeting was informed on the extent of losses to the affected people to Kapisa, Parwan, Pnjshir, Laghman, Bamyan, and Ghazni as well and it was decided that the number of affected people in those provinces are specified so that aid will be provided to them.
The meeting also allocated 200 tons wheat for the displaced people of Kunar due to rocket attacks of Pakistan on the province and another 200 tons of wheat for the displaced people of Khan Abad district of Kunduz and it was reiterate that 200 tons of wheat for the affected people in Nahur should also be transferred to them.
As per the proposal of the minister of rehabilitation and rural development the committee allocated Afs. 15 million for meeting the problem of potable water of eight northern provinces from the budget of the committee.
Meanwhile, the representatives of the ministries of defense and Red Crescent Society said that they have provided food aid to 340 and another 120 displaced families in Dangan district of Kunar who were displaced due to rocket attacks.
At the end the committee instructed all the member organs of the committee to adopt precautionary measures for combating possible problems during the winter.
