Police Seizes 30 Missiles In Kunar

Kabul (BNA) The personnel of Kunar security directorate have discovered and seized 30 missile rockets from outskirts of that province last night. 
According to Shamshad 202 police zone press office to BNA, these missile rockets were placed by armed militants for terrorist activities in the Chaqorak area, Dangam district of that province, were discovered and seized by police.

Kandahar (BNA) Approximately, 175 jiribs of lands were cleaned from poppy bushes in the Panjwai district of Kandahar province today. 
Local authorities of Kandahar said that destruction program of poppy farms which was started 8 days ago, continues in that district. 
Fazel Mohammad Hashaqzai governor of Panjwai district said to BNA, currently, 175 jiribs of lands have been cleaned from poppy bushes in that district.

Three Suicide Vest-coats Seized In Nangarhar

Kabul (BNA) The personnel of Nangarhar security commandment seized a quantity of ammunition from a ruin place in Banderkhail area, Acheen district of that province yesterday. 
The Shamshad 202 police zone said to BNA, these ammunitions consist of 10 anti-vehicle mines, 2 anti-personnel mines and 3 suicide vest-coats. 
These ammunitions were hidden by armed militants for terrorist activities in the mentioned area, and were discovered by police.

Ghazni (BNA) A member of Haqani network was arrested by National Security Directorate forces in Ghazni province yesterday. 
Local authorities said that the arrested person was smuggling arms as well. 
Sayed Amir Shah Head of NSD of Ghazni province said to BNA, the national security forces detained a person named Zafar with 25 guns that he wanted to smuggle them out of Ghazni province.   
According to him, Zafar Khan is resident of Paktia province and he placed the weapons in a vehicle, was arrested by the national security directorate personnel.

Freedom Of Press In Afghanistan

Kabul (BNA) Following the great political changes, the law on press and freedom of expression has been the biggest achievement which its main goals are free access of media and press to information.
The government has open policy to demonstrate democratic values and encourage journalists.
In recent years, we have been witnessing operation of tens TVs, radios, about 500 independent publications, newspaper and weeklies that all of them are working to institutionalize democracy.
The Afghan government and the MoIC as the only responsible organ, supports journalists and media professionals.
The latter was able to play constructive role in the direction of freedom of speech and improving of media actives.
Changes in the recent years in Afghanistan and reiteration of freedom of speech have provided further ground of media activities in implementation of democracy.
Today despite all present problems and challenges in our society, the journalists and media professionals are performing their moral and national obligations before society and public awareness honestly.
In the light of freedom of expression and expansion of democratic dimensions, the Afghan government encourages private TVs which are unique among the regional countries.
In all societies, media are the forth pillar of the government and a bridge the gap between the people and the latter.
They understand that have great responsibility before people and despite of all potential problems, are trying to reflect whatever is going on in their environment and inform the public.
At present thousands people are involved in media and press activity in the capital and provinces.
As an important pillar, they can be a guarantee and loyal to national interests and lead the so city toward a balanced movement.
Access of journalists’ to modern technology of satellites, internet and web sites have capable them to be further successful forever.
The government has also doesn’t spare any efforts to make all essential facilities available to media men including holding of workshops and seminars, providing of scholarships prizes and letters of appreciation.
The Afghan government has always emphasized on the role and importance of media and journalists and supported them.
During the years of devastating conflicts journalists have also sustained numerous hardships and even been victimized and killed due to violence.
Not only the government, but the civil society, justice and judiciary bodies as well as the human rights activists support journalists.
The journalists don’t want to lose vital achievements which have been gained following long years of tolerance and numerous sacrifices.

Kabul (BNA) Twenty five companies have been selected for investment in gold and copper mines in Afghanistan after specific assessments. 
According to information of mines ministry of 41 interested companies for investment on gold and copper mines of Zarkashan of Ghazni, gold mine of Badakhshan, copper mine of Shedai of Herat and copper mine of Bulkhabd, 25 foreign companies after assessments by the assigned committee of the ministers in mine affairs wee specified as eligible. 
Waheedullah Shahrani Minister of Mines called the interest of the companies as indicator of the world willingness in sustainable development of Afghanistan and he hoped that this process as other projects is successfully completed and finally led towards extraction of these resources. 
He added that these mines on the basis of the five-year plan of mines ministry following introduction on 15th of Qaus of 1390 to the world investors was officially placed to bidding in the London Conference and up to the 20th of Hoot 1390 41 companies from India, US, Canada, Britain, UAE, Turkey, Australia and an Afghan company expressed their willingness for investment on these mines. 
Of those 25 companies were confirmed as eligible for investments and it is expected that they forward their complete proposals for investment and after that the ministry of mines and assigned ministerial commission in mines affairs will study technical and economic standards of the companies.

Kabul (BNA) The head of the high administration for struggle against corruption, deputy minister for customs houses of finance ministry and general director of control and inspection explained reasons for allegation of embezzlement of billions of Afs from the customs houses of Balkh and Nangarhar province to the senators. 
The issue of theft of three billion Afghanis in Balkh customhouse and Afs 900 million in Nangarhar custom house having been mentioned by the high administration for struggle against corruption, it was found that the waiving off of ISAF and NATO goods import in Hairatan make around Afs 13 billion that is a matter of concern. 
While the system of specifying of goods in the country’s ports are not transparent and it is possible that forge has been practiced in specifying the types of goods especially that of petroleum and foods of TI form but no reliable documents have been provided in respect to the loss of billions of  Afghanis. 
Azizullah Ludeen chairman of the anti-corruption administration said that on the basis of reports from the four member delegation from different organs having been assigned by the presidential office in deletion’s views as 839 million have been missing in Nangarhar customs house and Afs 3.5 billion from Hairatan customs house accordingly. 
The Nangarhar case is being sent to the attorney general office while the Hairatan case is under further process. 
He added that only the transport company of Bulal Shahid owes Afs. 1.5 billion from 1388 of its taxes and fines and this company has failed to deposit this money to the government account. 
Sayed Mubeen Shah Deputy Minister for customs houses of finance ministry has categorically rejected the allegation of the anti-corruption administration regarding missing of money in Balkh and Nangarhar customs houses. 
In another part of the meeting the government representatives and the senators were unanimous in their views that there exist corruption in the government administration and proper measures are needed for elimination of corruption. 
Also Senator Mohammad Daoud Ghafari from Ghour said that some personnel of national army has entered into the home of Abdul Rauf Ghafuri head of repatriates and refugees department and they fired on him and stressed that first deputy defense minister and the commander of the national army battalion should attend and explain this issue in one of the senate complaints commission meeting. 
Concern was shown over poisoning of 150 students of girls students in Rustaq district of Takhar province and it was reiterated that the ministry of education and interior ministry should adopt proper security measure for safety of the students.

86 Students Poisoned In Takhar

Kabul (BNA) Eight six students of a girl school were poisoned after drinking water from the water tank of a school in Rustaq district of Takhar province the other day.
The governor of Rustaq district Mohammad Hussain said, describing it a conspiracy, he said investigation has been initiated to find the fact behind the incident.
Meantime, officials with the emergency department said that 129 people including girls from the girl schools and locals have also been affected after drinking the water.

Taliban Evicted From Kamdish

Kabul (BNA) Personnel of 6th brigade, commando unit of national army during a cleanup operation in Kamdish district of Nuristan province have killed several armed Taliban militants and sized quantity of arms and ammunition.
According to the press department of defense ministry, the villages of Prisitan and Astra have been recaptured from Taliban.
During the operation several weapons including five pieces of Kalashnikovs, hand grenades and RPG have been seized by the troops.

TAPI Royalty Finalized

Kabul (BNA) The representatives of the government of Afghanistan, Pakistan and India during a meeting in Islamabad the other day had finalized the royalty of the trans-pipeline of gas from Turkmenistan to Pakistan onward to India through Afghanistan. 
According to the Ministry for Mines, Minister Wahidullah Shahrani who visited Turkmenistan arrived in Islamabad the other day and attended the meeting. 
Afghanistan would earn 400 million US dollars annually as royalty. 
The four governments are expected to hold joint meeting on May 24 in Ashkhabad where representatives of the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank would attend to finalize the gas price besides inking the agreement. 
Afghanistan over the next 30 years would earn billions of US dollars as royalty.
