Kabul (BNA) Hamid Karzai, president of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan wished success to the country’s national football team in South Asian Confederation Championship. 
According to presidential press office, in a telephone contact on Saturday evening with Mohammad Yousif Kargar, coach of the Afghan team, the president said he is following reports related to their competitions and wished them success in their coming competition. 
While encouraging the players of the Afghan team that could achieve successes to Afghanistan, President Hamid Karzai said all the people of Afghanistan are supporting you and wishing that in final play you could win the South Asian Confederation Championship by all necessary preparations and powerful determination. 
The president emphasized that till now the football national team shun well and if it gain championship legation it also gain a good pride for the country. 
The Afghan national football team which is now in India for participation in South Asian Confederation Championship after defeating Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Nepal, the team will today compete with India. 
In case of winning, the Afghan team will win the South Asian Championship.

Kabul (BNA) Afghanistan held India to a 1-1 draw in their opening match of the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Cup being played in New Delhi. 
South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) member countries-Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, the Maldives and Bhutan are participating in the championship that got underway on Friday. 
Afghan striker, Bilal Arezo, stunned the hosts when he scored the first goal four minutes into the game, but Indians leveled the match seven minutes later, Afghan coach Humayun Kargar said this news agency.

Kabul (BNA) Afghanistan thrashed Malaysia by 53 runs in the ACC Twenty 20 Cricket Cup opener played in Nepal on Saturday, an official said. 
Afghanistan won the toss and elected to bat in the inaugural match, the national team manager, Shafiq Stanikzai, said to BNA, the national side managed to pile up 166 runs in the stipulated over’s for the loss of four wickets. 
Shabir Noori top-scored with 53, Karim Sadiq contributed 39, Asghar Stanikzai 24, Mohammad Shahzad 20 and Nawroz Mangal 12. 
Stanikzai said the Malaysians could not cope with fierce bowling from Mohammad Nabi, who got three wickets. 
Samiullah Shinwari and Hameed Hassan clinched two wickets each. 
Noori was declared the Man of the Match. 
Afghanistan are placed in Group-A along with Oman, Malaysia, Bhutan and the Maldives, while Group B consist of Nepal, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates,  Kuwait and Saudi Arabia.

Kabul (BNA) Nisar Bahavi and Ruhullah Nikpa, two Afghan sportsmen by winning one gold medal and one bronze have gotten permission to take part in the London Olympic competitions held in 2012.
In the competitions which were launched in Thailand from 25-27 Nov 2011, sportsmen from various Asian countries participated.
Nisar Ahmad Bahavi and Ruhllah Nikpa by getting gold and bronze medals have reached to participate in the London Olympic competitions next year.
