Kabul (BNA) Respected audience, sister and brothers,
It is my pleasure that sports in Afghanistan like other areas is progressing from the beginning of the new era and this of course is due to the attention of the in charges of this sector and now we are among other world countries and our sportsmen and women have attained pride for the country.
Sports have been part of life in the centuries and our people two were engaged in sports for hundreds of years.
Our forefathers were training their sons the skill of wrestling and swords usage and they believed that they can defend their country with these skills.
In the present era that sports have become an important of lives, the government of Afghanistan has prepared better grounds compared to the past.
In the recent years our sportsmen have made epics and in case better grounds are prepared for the sportsmen they can gain better prides for the country.
Brothers and sisters,
The National Committee of Afghanistan in the recent years despite limited possibilities compared to neighboring countries has taken very bold steps in development of sports in the country.
We are witnessing in recent years that our sportsmen bring in medals and prides from different matches and this indeed is remarkable.
The progress made by our sportsmen in epic sports, football, basketballs, cricket and Taekwandu indicate that they are working in coordinated manner in the world of sports and our athletes for the first time got medals in the world matches’ in the recent two years and if we can provide them with better possibilities they can better shape their skills and bring in additional pride for the country.
Availing this opportunity it is an honor for me to celebrate and congratulate each of our athletes on the victory of our football and cricket teams in the South Asian matches.
It is worth praising that the Kabul Sports Stadium when it was heavily damaged is now rehabilitated into a fascinating ground for athlete with the cooperation of the US government that is now attaching the athletes.
On this occasion I am thanking the US ambassador and General Allen Commander of ISAF in Afghanistan.
I am hopeful that with additional efforts of athletes and cooperation of friendly countries we can move towards further progress in sports.
