Kabul (BNA) Nine joint memorandums of understanding (MoUs) in literacy learning sector have been signed between ministry of education and all other ministries with participation of second vice president and head of national committee for literacy.
In a ceremony held on this occasion, second vice president Sarwar Danesh asserted that ministry of education and relevant organs had heavy responsibility in connection with expansion of literacy and rooting out illiteracy in the country. Danesh insisted that by only acceleration and expansion of literacy programs in the country, the government of Afghanistan could act upon its obligations in accordance to the country’s constitution and commitments pledged by Afghanistan to the international community and UN for expansion of literacy and education in the country. The second vice president further said that the UN sustainable expansion goals have obliged governments to broad and fair education with today’s standards, adding that literacy and rooting out illiteracy were the expanding goals whose execution and implementation were necessary for Afghanistan. In the ceremony, minister of education Hanif Balkhi considered implementation of national literacy programs as one of legal obligations of his ministry and relevant organs, adding that based on verdict of the country’s constitution and education law, all ministries and independent government institutions had common responsibility in expansion of literacy and rooting out illiteracy in the country.
