Kabul University Kicks Off Two Key Projects Worth $60 Million

Kabul (BNA) Stone foundation of auditorium and teaching buildings of Kabul University was laid in presence of the country’s chief executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, officials of ministry of higher education and Kabul University.
The projects worth $ 60 million will be constructed by China, agreed during visit of President Ghani and chief executive Dr. Abdullah Abdullah to China.
In opening ceremony of the two projects, the country’s chief executive said implementation of the projects at a historic and academic institution would be a remembering symbol in history of the two countries.
“China as a good neighboring country has provided lot of assistance to Afghanistan and has been spent in various sections in particular reconstruction of the country,” said Dr. Abdullah, adding that China and Afghanistan have had good relations during the past few centuries.
Stressing on significance of the projects, the country’s chief executive asserted that investment in higher education sector meant investment in tranquility of society, integrity and better future of Afghanistan as it had enduring impacts.
In the ceremony, Chancellor of Kabul University Dr. Hamidullah Farooqi said that the teaching building in 40 rooms and the auditorium building with the capacity of 500 people would be constructed, adding that construction of the two building at Kabul University would have key role in relations between the two countries.
Farooqi shared programs of the university as capacity building of teachers, creating higher education opportunities for students, codification of a two-year strategy and creating scientific and research centers with the country’s chief executive and asked for further attention in this regard.
