Four armed robbers detained in Baghlan

Pul-i-Khumri (BNA) As a result of firefights between police and armed robbers, one robber was sustained injuries, while three others were arrested in Baghlan province.  According to Colonel Mohammad Kamin, provincial police chief for Baghlan, the firefights occurred in Shahikhil area along Baghlan0e0Kunduz highway yesterday morning when they wanted to rob the passengers.  The source added the armed robbers face with police and as a result of firefights, one was sustained injuries and three others were arrested.  1 AK047 rifle, a car and two motorbikes were seized by police.

Kabul (BNA) Chaired by chief justice and acting chairman for Supreme Court Abdul Salam Azimi, an exclusive high council of Supreme Court’s session was held yesterday here in Kabul.  In the session reporting process and judicial activities of appeal courts for north-eastern zone were heard.  In the session Justice Abdul Shakoor Akhanzada head of Kunduz appeal court, Justice Mohammad Karim Rahimi, head of Baghlan appeal court, Justice Abdul Matin Karimi, head of Badakhshan appeal court and Justice Sayed Ghulam Farooq Shirzadi, head of Takhar appeal court briefed members of the council related to activities of provincial appellant courts.  Afterwards, a number of the high court’s and questions related to the briefings and were answered by the chairmen of the provincial appeal courts.

Kabul (BNA) in a telephonic conversation President Karzai and US President Barack Obama agreed that talk be held on the concerns of President Karzai and the presence of the foreign forces in Afghanistan’s villages.  It was stated and greed in the conversation that President Karzai and President Obama further discusses this point.  The issue of withdrawal of foreign forces from the Afghan villages had been taken up in his meeting with the US Defense Secretary following the incident in the Panjwayee district of Kandahar and meanwhile the relatives of the martyrs of this incident asked for vacating the villages by the foreign forces.  in his meeting with the US Defense Secretary, President Karzai stressed that night operations and home searches, has harmed the trust of the people of Afghanistan towards foreign forces and there is need that this is revived anew.  President Karzai reiterated that this is possible when the international forces respect the religious and cultural values of the people of Afghanistan, and no foreign troop enter into Afghans home and all attention should be focused towards reconstruction of Afghanistan and economic cooperation.

Kabul (BNA) Preparations for organizing ninth international music festival of Red Tulip is proceeding in Mazari-Sharif City.  The festival to be organized from 29th Hoot to the 2nd of Hamal artists of Tajikistan, India and Pakistan will participate.  Temur Shah Hakeem Chairman of the Preparatory Committee said that in addition to the foreign artists from 12 musical groups around 100 artists throughout Afghanistan will also participate at this festival for three days at the Hall of Marcopolo in the city.  The attendance of interested people is free of charge.  For this first time an international musical festival was held in 2003 initiated by the cultural foundation of civil society and cooperation of the Ministry of Information and Culture and this is being followed every year in Mazari Sharif.

Logar (BNA) a commander linked with Haqqani network was captured yesterday by Afghan and NATO forces in Logar province.  The commander was arrested yesterday morning in a joint operation launched by Afghan and NATO forces in Pul-e-Alam, capital city of Logar province.  In a statement released by NATO said the commander involved in various terrorist acts against Afghan and NATO forces in the province.  The statement added during the operation, a firefight occurred in his sanctuary but no casualties reported.  It is said the commander while plotting terrorist attacks war arrested.

Paktia (BNA) a man said to be a plotter of terrorist attacks and supporter of armed Taliban in Paktia has been captured by NATO forces.  The individual has arrested s a result of a joint operation launched by Afghan and NATO forces in outskirts of Ahmadabad district of the province.  In a statement released by NATO said besides that the individual was plotted terrorist attacks in the province he was also responsible for making roadside mines and supporting the armed Taliban financially.  The statement added the detained was also involved in dozens terrorist attacks against NATO and Afghan forces in the province.

Kabul (BNA) in a phone call, Dr. Zalmai Rasoul expressed the condolence and sympathy of the Afghan government and people to Ahmet Davutoolu, Foreign Minister of Turkey, over the death of twelve Turkish soldiers in a helicopter crash in Kabul on Friday.  Dr. Rassoul also conveyed the gratitude of the Afghan government and people for the sacrifices of Turkish soldiers in the cause of peace and security in Afghanistan, and Turkey’s generous assistance to the reconstruction of Afghanistan over the past decade.  Dr. Rassoul and Foreign Minister Davutoolu agreed that the loss of Turkish soldiers was a shared tragedy for both countries.  Foreign Minister Davutoolu also reiterated Turkey’s ongoing and long-term support and assistance to Afghanistan.

Kabul (BNA)  Second vice-president Mohammad Karim Khalili met with the British ambassador to Kabul and appreciated British assistance and cooperation with the people and Government of Afghanistan as well as the efforts of the ambassador during his mission in Afghanistan, adding that Britain a close partners of the government of Afghanistan.  He added that the role of Britain in ensuring security, reconstruction of the country, and struggle against narcotics is very important and emphasized on further expansion of political and economic cooperation between Afghanistan and British Government.  William Patti the British ambassador expressed pleasure over the existing progress in Afghanistan and said that the British government shall remain committed alongside the international community after the year 2014 as well.  He assured of continued political, economic and security cooperation to the Afghan government and called mutual cooperation as very important.

Kabul (BNA) The United States condemns the multiple attacks that took place in Kandahar province and Marja District in Helmand province.  These attacks look the lives of multiple civilians, including one in Kandahar city and eight innocent people in Helmand province.  Multiple others suffered injury as well.  These brazen attacks on civilians show the disregard the insurgency has for innocent lives.  Our condolences go out to the families of the innocent Afghans killed in these attacks, and we wish a speedy recovery to the injured.  The United States stands with our Afghan partners against the scourge of terrorism.

Kabul (BNA) The joint economic meeting chaired by President Hamid Karzai discussed problems of private sector, economic policy of the country and prevention of currency taken out of Afghanistan.  In the meeting held in the presidential palace yesterday afternoon, the authorities responsible for Afghanistan Chambers of Commerce raised transit problems that the private sector faced in the neighboring countries and the challenges arising from the customs.  The participants then shared their concepts on how to address the private sector’s problems in various fields including transit, customs, industries and investment.  After hearing their problems, president Karzai instructed the Ministries of Finance, Commerce, Economy, other line ministries and the Cabinet Economic Committee led by second Vice-President Mohammad Karim Khalili to hold regular sessions with the Chambers of Commerce.  The president also asked the authorities responsible for Afghanistan Chambers of Commerce to attend Cabinet economic meetings held on a monthly basis.  President Karzai said, real economic growth of Afghanistan could be achieved by the private sector with support of the government.
